Job Description Job Description Direct Counsel is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney with 0–2 years of litigation experience , preferably in insurance defense or general civil defense litigation , to join a growing Litigation Practice. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney looking to gain meaningful courtroom experience, work closely with experienced litigators, and develop a long-term career in litigation. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, possesses exceptional writing and analytical skills, and is committed to providing outstanding client service and effective advocacy.
Key Responsibilities Manage assigned litigation matters from inception through resolution with appropriate supervision. Collaborate with Partners and senior attorneys on case strategy and complex legal projects. Draft pleadings, written discovery, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related documents.
Conduct legal research and prepare analyses in support of defense strategies. Participate in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, administrative hearings, and trials. Maintain regular communication with clients, claims professionals, and opposing counsel regarding case status and legal developments.
Assist in preparing witnesses, exhibits, and evidence for hearings and trial proceedings. Ensure the timely, efficient, and effective handling of assigned matters. Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with the applicable State Bar. 0–4 years of litigation experience , preferably in defense or general civil litigation.
Exposure to state court litigation procedures is strongly preferred. Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
