Job Description
Rochambeau Bus Monitor Rochambeau, The French International School of Washington, DC (Rochambeau), has an immediate opening for a BUS MONITOR Part-Time for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will start August 17, 2026. Location: Bethesda, MD Reports to: Director of Transportation Job Type: Part-time, split shift, hourly, non-exempt Salary Information: $18.50 per hour.
Benefits: This position is eligible for Montgomery County Sick remain with any unreceived students and follow departmental notification policies. In the event of an accident or emergency, ensure the safe evacuation of students and adult passengers and prepare the ridership list. Maintain current knowledge of and facilitate Emergency Evacuation procedures.
Report any accidents, incidents, or traffic violations incurred by the Bus Driver to the supervisor or a member of management. Assist in maintaining the vehicle's interior in a clean and safe operating condition. Attend in-service meetings and training courses as assigned.
Check school email daily. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma/GED (or equivalent) desired Proficient in using technology, specifically iPads, for student registration and other tasks.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong attention to detail and a service-oriented approach. Ability to interact and communicate respectfully and effectively with students and staff members in a cooperative manner.
Availability to work a split shift, typically starting at 6:00 AM and concluding between 6:30 PM and 7:30 PM, with punctual and regular attendance. English communication proficiency required. Bilingual French/English desired.
Ability to interact with children and successfully clear a background check. Physical Demands: This position primarily operates in school, outdoor, and in-transit environments. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, work in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, cold, etc, and maintain physical mobility, including extended sitting, walking, standing, twisting, and stair climbing.
