Job Description
We are seeking a Chef to work in the kitchen ensuring the production of high-quality food and following all legal requirements in line with contractual obligations and company expectations, ensuring the delivery of excellent food and following all health & safety and food safety requirements at all times. Responsibilities To prepare, produce and serve high-quality dishes To prepare fresh food items for use in dishes To follow recipes to company standard to ensure the allergen report is correct To monitor portion size and wastage To work in a safe manner to ensure safety of yourself and others To communicate effectively with the front of house team to ensure successful service periods To work 'front of house' on the servery as required To communicate with guests in a professional manner To adhere to all training / guidelines for health & safety, food handling, COSHH, uniform standards, personal protective equipment, manual handling and fire regulations To ensure all displays and counters comply with company and statutory health and hygiene requirements including food information regulations To complete and update all food safety and health & safety paperwork correctly during your shift to ensure full compliance To be responsible for the cleanliness of the kitchen during and at the end of your shift, ensuring health and safety hazards, issues, near misses and accidents are reported to a senior member of the team at the earliest opportunity To demonstrate a can‑do attitude towards individual customer requests and strive to exceed customer expectations To complete all compulsory training as requested by a senior member of the team To follow all company and unit profit protection procedures, reporting any issues to your line manager To assist with stocktaking as requested To ensure all team members are treated with respect To be flexible and comply with any reasonable requests made by your line manager, including working within other units within reasonable distance To be able to self‑supervise when working alone and to ensure all safety guidelines are upheld Qualifications A good communicator with the ability to liaise with customers and clients An enthusiastic individual with a passion for excellent service delivery Competent in the English language, both written and verbal Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining a positive attitude Desirable City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 Catering NVQ Level 2 Basic food hygiene level 2 Minimum 1 year relevant experience Experience within a similar role IT literate Benefits Pay: £13.45 per hour Healthcare and wellbeing support 23 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays Life assurance Meals on duty Medicash – healthcare benefits including dental, optical and therapy treatments (includes up to 4 dependent children) Aviva Digicare – free annual healthcare check Exclusive Benefits & Wellbeing site Entertainment discounts – up to 55% off cinema tickets Health & Wellbeing discounts – Nuffield Health (20%) and Pure Gym (10%) Travel discounts – holiday companies such as TUI and Expedia Shopping discounts – up to 15% at high street and online stores by purchasing Shopping Cards Vodaphone discounts Pension scheme and Life Assurance Employee Assistance Programme 23 days + Bank Holidays and additional day off for birthday 2 days additional leave following return from maternity leave during first year back Competitive and supportive family benefits Day off for baby’s first birthday Holiday purchase scheme Ongoing training & development and career pathways Professional subscriptions paid Financial wellbeing programme and preferred rates on salary finance products Location: Yarnfield Park Compass Group UK & I is committed to fostering an environment where every individual can truly be themselves at work and has equal opportunities to advance in their careers.
