Critical Care Staff Nurse - Conquest | East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

There is an opportunity to join the Critical Care team in Conquest as a fixed‑term contract band 5 nurse. If you have some acute experience, substantial experience on an acute ward, and you would like a new challenge, critical care could be for you. There is a clear education programme and teaching for our new starters.

You will be given at least 6 weeks of supernumerary training and, upon completion, you will have a national workbook called the Steps 1 to complete. During this time you will learn to look after the most critically unwell patients in the hospital. You will be supported by your team leader, clinical skills facilitator, practice educator, and will have regular support and coaching shifts.

East Sussex Healthcare Trust has two Critical Care units. We are currently recruiting for Conquest, which comprises 6 ITU, 4 HDU beds and 4 Level 1 Enhanced Care beds. Responsibilities Provide individualised nursing care to critically ill patients as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Support patients, relatives and staff, including those requiring psychological support. Work day and night 11.5‑hour shifts on internal rotation, across both units. Participate in training, coaching, and ongoing professional development.
