Data Analyst
Cars Commerce
Job Description
Cars Commerce simplifies everything about car buying and selling. We are seeking a versatile Technical Data Analyst who loves to solve puzzles and bridge the gap between human problems and technical solutions. In this role, you’ll act as the essential “connective tissue” between our Support and Engineering teams, ensuring the product remains high‑quality, data stays clean, and developers work on the right challenges.
About This Role
- Technical Triage & Gatekeeping: acting as the primary bridge between Support and Engineering by analyzing L2 tickets and technical issues to ensure they are fully qualified, documented, and reproducible before being moved to developer backlog.
- QA & Precision Engineering: serving as the final checkpoint for developer output by performing functional QA to ensure features not only work technically but align with the original project scope and business requirements.
- Root Cause Analysis: conducting deep‑ dive data analysis to identify patterns or anomalies in product behavior and translating findings into actionable technical tasks.
- Data Translation: translating complex technical concepts, data structures, or website behaviors into clear, actionable insights for non‑technical stakeholders and clients.
- Bug & Backlog Contribution: understanding, qualifying, and triaging upcoming bugs.
- Product Expertise (SME): remaining the subject matter expert for your respective products and supporting any questions that cannot be readily answered by the Support team.
- AI & Data Initiatives: identifying opportunities to work on data analysis projects and AI initiatives to drive product innovation.
- Training: providing training materials to the Customer Support Manager to ensure proper team scaling and maintaining the internal knowledge base (wikis, presentations).
About You
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Technology Management (BTM), Information Systems, Statistics, or a related technical field. A Master’s degree or relevant certifications are a plus.
- Proven Experience: demonstrated experience as a Product Analyst, Technical Data Analyst, or similar role with a track record of triaging complex technical issues and ensuring product quality through rigorous QA and data validation.
- Technical Proficiency: experience with multiple data formats (CSV, JSON, XML) and an understanding of website structures; proficiency in SQL, Python, R, or other programming languages for data manipulation, analysis, and visualization; comfortable using Browser Developer Tools to investigate website behavior and data payloads.
- Analytical Mindset: strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to think critically and strategically about complex issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Communication Skills: excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Detail‑Oriented & Organized: exceptional attention to detail; able to manage multiple technical investigations, QA cycles, and documentation tasks simultaneously while meeting tight release deadlines.
- Collaborative Team Player: a strong cross‑functional collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills, responsible for facilitating direct communication and alignment between Support teams, Developers, and non‑technical stakeholders at all levels.
