Data Analyst - Inventory Planning & Supply Chain
California Design Den
Job Description
About California Design Den California Design Den is a fast-growing home-textiles brand selling across Amazon, Walmart, Target, Kohl's and our own Shopify store. Our Decision Science team turns data into the inventory, pricing and growth decisions that run the business. Location: Thane or Bengaluru, India (On-site) About the role Own the data, reporting and analytics that keep inventory planning and supply-chain decisions fast, accurate and proactive. You'll be the bridge between the planning/SCM teams and Decision Science, making sure planners and leadership always have clean, timely and trustworthy information across the raw-material-to-finished-goods pipeline. The core inventory reports (stockout, excess, aged-inventory, low-cover) already run at SKU level; your priority is to guarantee the numbers are right, catch bad feeds early, roll the detail up into clear notes for management, and surface stockout risk and demand spikes early enough to act. This is a data-validation and reporting-clarity role; planning decisions stay with the planning team. What you'll do • Own the accuracy of existing inventory reports: validate outputs against source, catch broken or stale feeds, and confirm scheduled deliveries land on time. • Track inventory across FBA, warehouse, on-sea, in-production and factory stages by SKU, size, colour, program and channel. • Distil SKU-level detail into concise management notes: signal, not noise; no surprises. • Prepare and validate historical sales, inventory and shipment data feeding the forecast; compare forecast vs. actuals and quantify bias and gaps. • Reconcile raw-material and production-readiness data against source and catch issues before they flow downstream. • Surface sudden demand jumps and stockout risk to the team lead early enough to act. • Resolve mismatches across ERP, trackers, inventory files and BI dashboards; improve master-data consistency. • Build and maintain dashboards for inventory health, demand trends, supply status and KPIs (stock cover, weeks of inventory, sell-through, in-stock rate, excess/aged inventory, forecast accuracy). • Prepare data for weekly inventory calls and monthly planning reviews; run ad-hoc deep-dives. What we're looking for • Strong with numbers: you sense when an input is wrong, spot anomalies and trace them to source. • Strong SQL and comfort with large datasets (BigQuery a plus; Postgres welcome). • Hands-on with Power BI or a comparable BI tool; strong Excel/Google Sheets. • Python for data handling/automation is a strong plus. • High attention to detail; able to summarise messy detail into a clear, unambiguous view. • Working understanding of inventory data: cover, sell-through, in-stock, lead times. • Strong ownership and follow-up; reliable and consistent on recurring reporting. • 3-5 years of relevant data/analytics experience. Good to know This is a data/analytics role.
It does not own final forecast sign-off, buying/production decisions, supplier negotiation, or inventory strategy. It enables those decisions by giving the planning team the right data, visibility and analysis.
