Mechanic – Technical Support Supervisor
Transdev in Fairfax County is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanic – Technical Support Supervisor to join our team. The role involves supervising and coordinating the activities of our diesel technician team, ensuring the timely and efficient diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of diesel vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, excellent leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.
Competitive Compensation Package
$42/hr to $45/hr.

Key Responsibilities
- Support technicians with complex technical issues
- Diagnose mechanical failures and root causes
- Oversee and support preventive maintenance programs
- Analyze technical data and root causes of failures
- Determine maintenance personnel training needs and coordinate with trainers
- Review all road‑call repair work orders for proper root‑cause analysis and diagnosis
- Support transition into ZEBs with strong electronics and high‑voltage experience
- Provide support to apprenticeship program
- Ensure diagnostic tools and equipment are updated, calibrated, and licensed
- Identify tools and equipment needs
- Research and stay abreast of new technology and service developments
- Recommend service bulletins and SOPs
- Develop reliability campaigns, oversee implementation, and ensure campaign quality
- Identify warrantable failures and trends
- Other duties as required
Qualifications
- High school diploma or degree preferred
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a quality inspector
- Experience with quality control techniques such as Six Sigma
- Experience with measuring devices (meters, gauges, computers, calipers, and other instruments)
- Basic math, analytical, documentation, and reporting skills
- Proficient with personnel computers and related software (Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to identify problems and determine appropriate solutions
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish effective working relationships
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven attention to detail, organization, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including designs, uses, and repair
- Knowledge of computer systems, technology, software, applications, circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and hardware
- Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles and practices, including power supplies, relays, time and frequency standards, digital logic, integrated circuits, and programmable motor/logic controllers
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to work shifts or flexible schedules as needed
- Employee will spend long periods sitting, typing, or observing a computer screen
- Work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings
