What Youll Be Doing (Position Summary): The Director, Data Modernization and Development is accountable for the direction and execution of data application delivery. This role leads modernization initiatives, supports cloud and data platform adoption, and ensures alignment with business strategy At CIBC India we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. How Youll Succeed (Responsibilities): Own engagement model with business stakeholders to understand their needs, translate business problems into effective reporting and analytics solutions, and communicate insights clearly. Lead migration of all legacy reporting (SAS/SQL) to cloud (Azure) and modernize BI and reporting infrastructure Lead all operational efforts to support key Business processes including ETL execution and automation for various product lines Strategic Planning: Support data and BI roadmap, aligning with business needs and emerging trends. Champion use of AI tools and techniques where appropriate to accelerate and optimize the migration process, including automated code conversion, data quality, and enhancement of reporting workflows.
Data solutions: Oversee the design, development, and delivery of key data assets and business intelligence solutions Innovation: Lead modernization, automation initiatives to improve efficiency and scalability. Data Platform Leadership: Support data engineering, architecture, development, and optimization of data platforms (Azure, Databricks, etc.). Analytics & Insights: Lead complex analyses to identify trends, opportunities, and actionable recommendations.
Data Quality: Oversee Implementation and monitoring of data controls to ensure high data quality and compliance. Risk & Compliance: Ensure robust data governance, risk management, and compliance with enterprise standards. Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary liaison for technology development and partner with business leaders.
Team Development: Mentor and develop technical teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement. CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Engage with CIBC PBB Data and AI teams, Enterprise Advanced Analytics & AI and Platform teams, Enterprise Technology teams, Client Account Management, and other Business teams to deliver integrated data solutions. AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS: As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes in order to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. As a manager of people, this job has the authority to assign tasks to employees within their span of control, select individuals for hire, assess individual performance, make employee compensation decisions and take disciplinary measures up to and including termination.
JOB DIMENSIONS: Contributes to the achievement of business unit goals through advanced technical expertise and solution delivery. Experience: 15+ years of experience. Who You Are (Skills/Qualifications): Must Have Skills: 15+ years of experience in data roles and BI delivery with direct exposure to business leaders and developing critical BI solutions. 5+ years of people management.
Strong leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management abilities. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to develop unique solutions to complex and abstract issues and to provide interpretive advice to business and functional leaders.? Strong influential/negotiations skills sufficient to recognize and respond to concerns of multiple interests and to lead/shape the decision-making process in situations that involve complexity and ambiguity Expertise in cloud (Azure) data platforms, modern data architectures, and creating BI data solutions Proficiency in SQL, Python, Power BI, and other BI tools.
Deep Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and other Azure tools Advanced knowledge of data engineering, analytics, and reporting. Seek out innovative solutions and embrace evolving technologies. Can easily adapt to new tools and trends Deep experience in business reporting, analytics, and translating business needs into reporting solutions.
