Director of Event Management
Eden Recruitment Ltd
Job Description
New Jersey | Circa $150,000 + Bonus & Comprehensive Benefits | Hybrid Working (2–3 Days in the Office)
We are partnering with a highly respected global organisation to appoint a Director of Global Meetings & Events (Director / Assistant Vice President level) to lead its enterprise-wide meetings and events function.
This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for shaping the strategy, delivery and future direction of one of the organisation's most important business functions. Working closely with senior leadership, you'll oversee a diverse portfolio of executive meetings, Board programmes, member engagement initiatives and large-scale conferences, ensuring every event strengthens stakeholder engagement whilst delivering an exceptional experience.
Leading an established, high-performing team, you'll bring the vision, leadership and commercial acumen to continue evolving the function. This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys developing people, influencing senior stakeholders and driving innovation as much as delivering world-class events.
The Role
- Lead the strategic direction of the global meetings and events function, ensuring every programme aligns with organisational priorities and delivers measurable business value.
- Inspire, mentor and develop an experienced team, fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on continuous improvement and exceptional service.
- Partner with senior executives and Board stakeholders, acting as a trusted advisor on meeting strategy, event design and attendee experience.
- Oversee the delivery of Board meetings, executive leadership programmes, member events and large-scale conferences for audiences of up to 1,300 delegates.
- Build strategic partnerships with luxury hotels, destination management companies, production agencies and other key suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring exceptional service delivery.
- Oversee significant event budgets, balancing commercial value with an exceptional delegate experience.
- Drive innovation across the function by introducing new technologies, improving processes and identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.
- Establish meaningful KPIs and reporting, using data and analytics to evaluate performance, inform decision-making and support continuous improvement.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required (approximately 25–35%) to oversee key events and strengthen stakeholder relationships.
About You
- Significant leadership experience within corporate meetings, conferences or enterprise events.
- An exceptional people leader with a genuine passion for coaching, mentoring and developing high-performing teams.
- Extensive experience delivering complex, multi-day conferences, executive programmes and Board-level meetings.
- Proven experience managing large-scale corporate events for audiences of up to 1,300 attendees.
- Strong experience negotiating with luxury hotels, venues and strategic event partners.
- Commercially astute, with experience managing significant budgets, supplier contracts and vendor performance.
- A strategic thinker and natural problem solver, capable of balancing long-term planning with operational excellence.
- Experience using event technology, reporting, data and performance metrics to drive informed decision-making would be highly advantageous.
- Whilst we're open to industry background, candidates from the pharmaceutical sector are likely to bring particularly relevant experience given their exposure to complex international congresses, incentive programmes and large-scale corporate events. Equally, we welcome applications from professionals who have delivered similarly complex event portfolios in other corporate environments.
What's on Offer
- Competitive annual bonus.
- Hybrid working with 2–3 days per week in the office.
- Approximately 25–35% travel.
- Opportunity to lead an established, high-performing team.
- Strategic partnership with senior leadership and Board stakeholders.
- Genuine autonomy to shape the future of a global meetings and events function.
- Long-term career development within a respected international organisation.
