Director of Operations

Tim Johnson Landscaping is looking for a Director of Operations to take ownership of how our Statesville and Charlotte branches run day to day. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Statesville with a branch in Charlotte, TJL has grown to roughly 100 team members serving commercial clients across the Piedmont, the Foothills of North Carolina, and Upstate South Carolina. We've been named Best Landscaping Company for five consecutive years, and we've built that reputation the same way we build client relationships: by doing what we say we're going to do.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is a senior operating role, not a strategic bystander seat. You'll own revenue, margin, and profitability across branches, working closely with ownership and branch leadership to bring consistency and scalable systems to field operations as TJL grows toward its next stage. You'll be close to the branches, close to the numbers, and close to the people leading crews every day.

As TJL continues to scale, this role carries a clear runway. The right leader who masters branch operations and proves out the systems has a real path toward broader executive scope as the company grows.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

Branch Operations & Financial Performance

• Direct leadership and oversight of both branches, holding a consistent standard of execution and quality
• Budgeting and planning for branch operations, capital planning for equipment and fleet
• KPI accountability across revenue, margin, labor utilization, safety, and retention, with regular reporting to ownership

Team Leadership

• Direct supervision and coaching of Branch Managers
• Support for recruiting, hiring, and developing branch-level leadership as we grow
• Building a high-performance culture aligned with TJL's core values

Quality, Safety & Systems

• Senior safety leadership across both branches
• Company-wide quality standards, audits, and escalated client issue resolution
• Full utilization of Aspire for job costing, routing, and labor tracking, and partnership with ownership on fleet and telematics (Azuga)

WHAT YOU BRING

• 5-8+ years of progressive operations leadership in commercial landscape, field services, or a closely related service-based industry
• Direct accountability for revenue and margin performance in a prior role
• Experience overseeing more than one location, crew, or book of business
• A data-driven approach to correcting operational variances, and a track record of implementing or reinforcing systems, KPIs, and operating rhythms
• The ability to lead through influence and credibility, not just title
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Aspire or ERP experience a plus

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This role offers a base salary of $130,000-$160,000, commensurate with experience, plus a performance-based bonus tied to branch and company results.
