Dry Bulk Analyst (Ferrous Metals – Steel & Iron Ore) – Singapore
We are supporting a global leading shipowner in their search for a Dry Bulk Analyst to join their Singapore office. This role sits at the intersection of market intelligence and commercial strategy, focused on the ferrous value chain (iron ore, steel, raw materials) and its impact on dry bulk freight markets.
The position will play a key role in shaping trading and chartering strategy through in-depth supply/demand analysis, forecasting, and market insights across global trade flows.
Responsibilities:Conducting detailed supply and demand analysis across iron ore, steel, and key ferrous raw materialsBuilding and maintaining market models and forecasts for dry bulk flows and freight demandAnalysing global trade flows, arbitrage economics, and shifts in import/export dynamicsProviding actionable insights to support chartering, freight trading, and commercial strategyMonitoring macroeconomic drivers, Chinese demand, steel production trends, and inventory cyclesCollaborating closely with chartering and trading teams to inform positioning and decision-makingProducing regular market reports, outlooks, and scenario analysesTracking vessel supply, fleet dynamics, congestion, and port data to assess freight market direction
Requirements:3–5 years’ experience in dry bulk analysis, commodities research, or market intelligenceStrong coverage of ferrous markets (iron ore, steel, coking coal) and their freight implicationsProven experience in supply/demand modelling and forecastingStrong analytical skillset with proficiency in Excel and data tools (Python/SQL/VBA beneficial)Solid understanding of global trade flows and freight market driversCommercial mindset with the ability to translate analysis into actionable strategyStrong communication skills, comfortable engaging with front-office stakeholdersFluent/native in Mandarin.
