Embedded Linux Software Engineer

Salary: $90,000 - 140,000 per year

• We require 3+ years of experience building high-quality, resilient embedded software.
• We require strong hands-on experience with Embedded Linux.
• We need proven proficiency developing embedded Linux applications in C/C++, with Python and Bash used for tooling and test automation.
• We expect familiarity with concurrent, multi-process architecture and service supervision with systemd.
• We look for solid knowledge of networking basics and communication methods, including TCP/UDP, IPC, and messaging frameworks such as ZeroMQ.
• We require practical experience with Linux kernel internals, device drivers, and device-tree configuration on custom hardware.
• We need experience developing on NVIDIA Jetson or comparable embedded SoCs.
• We expect the ability to bring up hardware interfaces and troubleshoot drivers for I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and USB.
• We look for low-level microcontroller development experience, such as STM32 or PIC.
• We require experience using oscilloscopes, protocol analyzers, and other low-level debugging tools.
• We expect an understanding of electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
• Ardupilot experience is a strong advantage.
• We require US Person status, meaning a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
• A bachelors degree is required.
• We require at least 1 year of experience in Embedded Linux, microcontrollers, or RTOS.
• We require relocation to Moorpark, CA 93021 before starting and the role is onsite.

• We develop flight software applications for embedded Linux platforms used in unmanned aircraft.
• We collaborate with hardware engineers to bring up new boards, integrate device drivers, and verify software-electronics interfaces.
• We maintain board support package software for embedded Linux environments.
• We build dependable software that meets internal and external requirements.
• We plan and carry out testing at the module, subsystem, and system levels using automated tools, simulation frameworks, and structured procedures.
• We support deployment, configuration, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance across a distributed fleet of embedded devices.
• We perform system-level debugging and root-cause analysis across both hardware and software.
