Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Server Administrator / SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to support and manage enterprise database environments and Windows server infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server Administration, database performance optimization, high availability solutions, monitoring, security, and automation. This role requires proactive operational support, troubleshooting capabilities, and a strong focus on system reliability, performance, and security.

Job Description

SQL Server Administration

• Install, configure, maintain, and upgrade Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Manage and support SQL Server instances across Development, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
• Perform database provisioning, migration, refresh, and lifecycle management activities.
• Ensure database availability, integrity, and performance across all supported environments.

Database Operations

• Design and maintain backup and recovery strategies.
• Perform database backup, restoration, and disaster recovery testing.
• Configure and support database replication technologies.
• Implement and manage database security, including user access, roles, permissions, and encryption.

Performance Management

• Monitor database health, availability, and performance.
• Analyze and resolve performance bottlenecks involving queries, indexes, memory, storage, and server resources.
• Implement indexing strategies and performance tuning best practices.
• Conduct capacity planning and recommend optimization opportunities.

Monitoring & Availability

• Configure and maintain database monitoring and alerting solutions.
• Monitor SQL Agent Jobs, database health indicators, server utilization, and infrastructure alerts.
• Investigate incidents and ensure timely resolution of performance and availability issues.
• Support High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions.

High Availability & Disaster Recovery

• Support SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Replication.
• Participate in disaster recovery planning, testing, and validation activities.
• Ensure business continuity through effective HA/DR practices.

Security & Compliance

• Implement database and server security controls.
• Ensure compliance with organizational security standards and hardening practices.
• Participate in vulnerability remediation and security audits.

Automation & Continuous Improvement

• Develop scripts and automation solutions using PowerShell and/or Python.
• Automate routine DBA and server administration tasks.
• Improve monitoring, maintenance, and deployment processes.

Documentation & Process Management

• Maintain operational documentation, runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge articles.
• Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Collaborate with application teams, infrastructure teams, and security stakeholders.
