The Live Data unit is responsible for the development, delivery, and global distribution of real‑time sports data across a diverse range of sporting events. Through strong partnerships with rights holders, media organisations, and betting companies worldwide, the unit ensures the seamless provision of accurate, high‑quality data across 30+ different sports disciplines, including e‑sports.
Within Scout Admin, our team develops and maintains the core administrative platform that powers the management of scouts, events, and data‑collection workflows. This system plays a critical role in ensuring that scouts worldwide can seamlessly register, prepare, and manage their coverage of live sporting events, directly supporting the quality and reliability of the Live Data ecosystem.
The Challenge
As an Engineering Manager in the Scout Admin team you will be responsible for leading and guiding the most important part of our engineering organization – our people. You’ll serve as a leader to nurture a culture of collaboration, communication, and coordination between and within teams, leverage your prior experience as an individual contributor and demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of complex systems to make technology and product decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of talented software engineers with different levels of expertise, focusing on domain and technology stack, and manage other managers.
- Collaborate with product managers, leaders and engineers to create the best product for our customers.
- Dedicate time to hands‑on design and development.
- Coach engineers to grow professionally and personally, providing frequent feedback.
- Prepare short‑ and mid‑term plans while contributing to strategic goals and vision of the unit.
- Ensure team growth, happiness, and high‑quality outcomes by enforcing technical excellence, debt management, and continuous improvement.
- Think strategically about long‑term career development of team members.
- Communicate across cross‑functional teams such as Product, Analytics, DevOps, Security and Design.
- Lead prioritisation efforts and mentor others.
- Understand how our business works and how products add value to customers.
- Show engineers how their work impacts the product and the bigger picture.
- Learn and share experiences on new technologies and trends.
- Collaborate and share knowledge across the group.
- Exhibit passion and drive change.
- Gain deep expertise in the workflows and processes of real‑time sports data collection worldwide.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and long‑term system design.
- Stay hands‑on with code while supporting team members in pair programming and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Effective and clear communication in all circumstances.
- People management and technical leadership experience.
- Passion for delivering great products through collaboration and ingenuity.
- Extensive hands‑on experience in software development, working on robust, complex systems serving a high volume of users.
- Appreciation for good engineering practices and prioritising quality over quantity.
- Ability to set goals, monitor progress and influence others across organisational layers.
- Practical application of operational agility.
- Teamwork champion.
- Track record of successful competence development and helping people grow.
- Thorough understanding of the SDLC and software development frameworks.
- Experience with AWS, Java/Kotlin, GitLab, SQL and Kubernetes.
- Nice to have: experience with PHP and JavaScript.

Our Recruitment Process
- Initial screening with Talent Acquisition Partner.
- Technical task: take‑home coding assignment.
- Technical interview (120 min): in‑depth discussion on submitted coding.
- System design task, including review of thought process, live‑coding whiteboard exercises, and system design conceptual discussion.
- Cultural fit interview (45 min): conversation with Senior Management and People Partner to assess fit in a matrix organization.
- Leadership capabilities interview (60 min): focus on people, delivery, competence development and problem solving.
