Job Description
RESPEC is seeking an experienced Engineering Program Director to join our engineering team in our Fairbanks, AK office. This role will focus on operations and business development with a strategic mindset for the Facilities market sector. The Engineering Program Director proactively improves day‑to‑day operations, production, services, quality and efficiency of the program.
This client service and staff-oriented role requires the ability to continually and proactively improve the program's position across operational and financial measures. The role drives the program’s performance and long‑term sustainability, ensuring the program thrives, improves efficiencies, improves quality, improves services and maintains profitability for the success of the program and the company. As a leader in the community, the role contributes to organizational growth by identifying, pursuing, and supporting new business and project opportunities.
- Oversees/monitors staffing, resources, business development, opportunities and reports on office operations. Carries out broad supervisory duties including mentoring, hiring/recruiting, workforce planning, reviewing/approving expenditures, timecards, and performance management.
- Identifies and resolves existing and potential operational and performance deficiencies.
- Assists other programs in cross‑office work sharing where possible.
- Anticipates and tracks staffing needs of the program, identifying peaks and valleys.
- Responsible for the program enforcement of product standards and procedures (i.e., drawings, ACAD, plans, reports, specifications, QA/QC procedures, policies, timesheet, accounting standards).
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Other duties as assigned/commensurate with the program director role.
Qualifications
Ideal candidates enjoy collaborating with a team and diving into new challenges, and will have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering management from an accredited institution and/or related field.
- Professional Engineering license in area of expertise.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible work experience.
- Exceptional skills in team leadership, coordination, and support.
- Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with groups both internally and externally.
- Ability to research, analyze, and present office and individual financial performance measures.
- Prior supervisory/management experience in an engineering services firm.
Additional Preferred Experience/Skills:
- Demonstrated business management skills, including an understanding of company and office financials, financial drivers, hiring and staff development, and leadership.
- Five years of demonstrated experience managing multiple clients and projects while overseeing a team, or teams, of people.

Compensation and Benefits: Salary depends on experience and expertise. Compensation includes a comprehensive fringe‑benefits package. RESPEC is a 100 percent employee‑owned company, and employees are eligible for participation in the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) after a qualifying period.
