Environmental Litigation Associate Attorney
Locations: Los Angeles, CA | Palo Alto, CA | San Diego, CA | San Francisco, CA
Compensation: $310,000–$390,000 (based on experience and geographic location)
About the Opportunity
Direct Counsel is seeking an Associate Attorney – Environmental Litigation to join the Litigation Practice of a leading international law firm. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney with 4–5 years of litigation experience and a background in environmental and/or products liability litigation who is looking to work on sophisticated, high-profile matters in California.
The successful candidate will have experience handling complex litigation in California state courts and will collaborate with a highly regarded team representing clients in environmental and products liability disputes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive legal research and analysis to support litigation strategy
- Draft high-quality legal documents, including briefs, motions, pleadings, and correspondence
- Assist in managing complex litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Prepare for and participate in court hearings, depositions, negotiations, mediations, and trials
- Develop litigation strategy through factual and legal analysis
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and strategic legal counsel
- Collaborate with attorneys and legal professionals across practice groups to achieve favorable client outcomes
- Stay current on legal developments affecting environmental and products liability litigation
- Participate in professional development, pro bono initiatives, and firm-sponsored programs
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active admission to the California Bar
- 4–5 years of litigation experience
- California state court litigation experience required
- Experience in environmental litigation and/or products liability litigation
- Prior law firm or government agency experience preferred
- Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong organizational abilities with exceptional attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
- Sound business judgment and strong verbal and written communication skills
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement with regular in-office collaboration and flexibility for remote work.
