Technical Skills:Experience in Optical design for Lighting system is mandatoryProficiency in CAD software (Creo, CATIA, Solid Works).Proficiency in GD&T, Tolerance stack-up.Experience with optical simulation software (e.g., Light Tools, Speos, Zemax).Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and communication protocols (CAN, LIN).Understanding of thermal management principles for electronics
What you'll do:
A Optical Lighting System Design Engineer is responsible for the full lifecycle design, development, and integration of a vehicle's lighting systems. This includes headlights, taillights, and signalling lights, ensuring they meet safety, performance, and aesthetic requirements.
Performance & Safety:Conduct optical simulations and analyses to ensure the lighting meets legal and safety standards (e.g., DOT, ECE, AIS regulations). Evaluate light distribution, intensity, and beam patterns.
Thermal Management: Analyze and design for the thermal management of LED and other light sources to ensure longevity and consistent performance. This often involves creating heat sinks and airflow paths.
Electrical Integration: Collaborate with electrical engineers to integrate the lighting system with the vehicle's electrical architecture. This includes designing wiring harnesses, controllers, and communication protocols (e.g., CAN bus).
Prototyping & Testing: Build and test prototypes to validate the design. Develop and execute comprehensive test plans (DVP&R) for mechanical, electrical, and environmental validation.
Supplier Management: Work with suppliers to source components, negotiate specifications, and ensure the quality of manufactured parts.
Manufacturing Process: Work with suppliers to identify manufacturing process (DFM), Tooling feasibility, molding, casting etc.
Problem-Solving: Diagnose and resolve issues that arise during the design, testing, and manufacturing phases.
