Job Description
General Position Overview
Primary responsibility is to deliver the regional allocated volume and revenues; defined as a hard number, growth target, profit target and/or a market share goal. Secondary responsibilities include recruiting, backfilling and helping the region and the sales team, building the sales regional strategy, devising sales tactics, and selling our HMM services.
Essential Job Functions / Duties
- Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals
- Assist in creating a culture of success and goal achievement
- Manage the Regional Sales Teams and resources to deliver profitable growth
- Assist in defining optimal sales force structure
- Assist in hiring and developing sales Team
- Oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets
- Plan and coordinate Regional Sales Training that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives
- Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction
- Assist in defining sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required
- Put in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function
- Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting
- Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions
- Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership team and other company functions
- Work closely with the marketing function to establish successful support, channel and partner programs
- Manage key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities
- Travel for in‑person meetings with customers, attend industry conferences to meet with partners and to develop key relationships
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Successful experience building a go‑to‑market strategy and Regional/corporate sales plan
- Successful experience building and growing a sales territory
- Selling ocean services (product/service) to importers/exporters
- Closing multi‑million figure deals
- Monitoring and evaluating sales rep progress against stated expectations, in addition to aligning and changing behaviour with performance expectations
- Managing key customer relationships and closing strategic opportunities
- Utilising a CRM to manage team sales tasks, pipeline, and closing data
- Hiring, developing and onboarding sales managers and representatives
- Building and managing a regional territory
- Providing status reports with market and customer feedback to the corporate leadership team
- Demonstrated ability in all aspects of sales leadership
- PC proficiency
- Literate in MS Office Suite and general computer skills
- Strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
- Ability to multitask is crucial
Education & Experience
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field. A Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent senior‑level experience is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in sales management within a B2B environment, sales operations, business planning, or sales support management.
- Strong preference for candidates with previous experience in the Ocean Carrier, NVOCC, or BCO sectors.
- In‑depth understanding of the US Export and/or Import market is required. Familiarity with the Southeast USA territory and its specific customer base is preferred.
- Proven track record of successfully leading and managing analytically rigorous corporate initiatives from conception to execution.
- Demonstrated experience in managing and leading teams, with a focus on professional development and achieving collective targets.
- Prior experience in Sales or Trade with a documented and consistent track record of success in meeting or exceeding organisational goals.
Environment / Equipment / Physical Demands
- Work performed in an office environment where the noise level is moderate. Regularly required to stand, sit, and walk around the office; frequently required to work on a computer. Occasionally required to use force to lift, push and pull up to 20 pounds.

- Requires up to 30% travel.
