Project Manager – Facility Relocation (6-Month Fixed-Term Contract | Outside IR35) Location: Regular travel required between Newport and Ryde, Isle of Wight Contract: Fixed-Term Contract – 6 Months (Potential Extension) Outside IR35 Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to lead the relocation of an electronic engineering and manufacturing operation from its existing site to a larger, purpose-fit facility. This role will take full responsibility for planning, coordinating and delivering the end-to-end relocation programme, ensuring the safe and efficient transition of manufacturing, engineering, warehousing, IT infrastructure, facilities and office functions while maintaining business continuity. The successful candidate will have a strong track record in delivering complex facility relocation projects within engineering or manufacturing environments and be confident managing multiple stakeholders, contractors and workstreams simultaneously.
Key Responsibilities Project Delivery Lead the full lifecycle of the facility relocation project from initiation through to completion and handover. Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, resources and risk registers. Coordinate the relocation of manufacturing equipment, engineering assets, warehouse inventory, IT systems and office facilities.
Ensure minimal disruption to ongoing business operations throughout the transition. Monitor project progress and implement corrective actions where required. Stakeholder Management Work closely with department leaders across Engineering, Production, Warehousing, IT, HR, Facilities and HSE to understand requirements and align relocation plans.
Provide regular updates and reporting to senior leadership teams. Facilitate effective communication between all project stakeholders. Manage expectations and ensure timely resolution of project issues.
Contractor & Supplier Management Procure, appoint and manage external contractors and specialist suppliers. Coordinate construction, M&E, IT infrastructure and relocation service providers. Monitor contractor performance against agreed deliverables, quality standards and timelines.
Ensure effective cost management and budget control throughout the project. Health, Safety & Compliance Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations. Coordinate risk assessments, method statements (RAMS) and safe systems of work.
Manage contractor compliance and site safety activities. Ensure the new facility is fully compliant, secure and operationally ready before occupation. Act as a key point of contact for all HSE-related project matters.
Facilities & Infrastructure Readiness Oversee facility modifications, upgrades and infrastructure improvements. Develop and maintain building plans, documenting existing infrastructure and proposed modifications. Coordinate installation, commissioning and validation of utilities, equipment and supporting systems.
Ensure successful migration and operation of IT systems, networks and business-critical applications. Essential Experience & Qualifications Proven experience delivering manufacturing, engineering or industrial facility relocation projects. Strong Project Management Office (PMO) experience with structured governance, reporting and controls.
Demonstrable knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems within industrial environments. Experience managing complex contractor networks and supply chains. Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
Experience working with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple workstreams within challenging timescales. Desirable Experience NEBOSH or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
Experience developing and implementing fire strategies for large-scale commercial or industrial facilities. Background in electronic engineering, advanced manufacturing or high-tech production environments. Experience planning and delivering large-scale relocation programmes.
Familiarity with IT infrastructure migrations, including servers, networks and ERP systems. Professional Project Management qualification such as PRINCE2, PMP or APM. Experience implementing business continuity and operational resilience strategies.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and process improvement methodologies. Skills & Competencies Excellent planning, organisation and project coordination skills. Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
Effective stakeholder management and communication skills. Proven risk management and problem-solving capability. Commercial awareness with experience managing budgets and costs.
High attention to detail and focus on successful project delivery. Key Deliverables Successful delivery of a fully operational new facility on time and within budget. Safe and compliant working environment meeting all regulatory requirements.
Seamless transition with minimal impact on operational performance. Comprehensive project documentation, lessons learned and handover records. Start Date- Ideally immediate / July 2026 or as agreed.
