Hays Accountancy & Finance are working with our client, a highly regarded professional services organisation based in Belfast, recognised for its strong reputation, collaborative culture, and high-performing finance function. This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and supportive team during an important period of transition.

As Financial Controller, you will play a key leadership role within the finance team, ensuring the smooth running of financial operations while supporting senior stakeholders across the business. Immediate starts are preferable, and a bonus at the end of the contract of up to £5,000.

Your new role Leading and managing the accounts team, ensuring workloads are effectively prioritised and delivered within deadlines.Overseeing core financial processes, including bank reconciliations, daily cash management, and finance inbox queriesCoordinating the annual financial timetable, including audit and statutory reporting requirementsProducing and reviewing regular financial reports, including time reporting and external submissionsSupporting the preparation of budgets, including salary planning, fee targets, and capacity forecastingAttending senior stakeholder meetings and contributing to wider financial decision-makingProviding technical support on tax, VAT, and compliance-related mattersSupporting commercial activity, including tender submissions and financial analysisDelivering ad hoc reporting and analysis to senior management and stakeholdersProviding cover for senior finance leadership as required

What you'll need to succeed Fully qualified accountant status (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent)Proven experience within a professional services environmentPrevious experience managing or supervising a finance teamStrong stakeholder management skills, with experience communicating at senior levelExcellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple prioritiesA proactive and collaborative approach to problem-solvingStrong systems skills, including advanced MS Excel and accounting software
