Job Description
We are partnering with a leading private equity platform to appoint a General Counsel to lead its legal function across Asia. This is a senior leadership role, reporting directly to the senior management team and working closely with investment professionals on complex, cross-border transactions. Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the principal legal advisor to the firm across all aspects of its private equity investment lifecycleLead and manage legal execution on M&A transactions, including structuring, due diligence, negotiations, and completionAdvise on fund formation, fund structuring, and ongoing fund-related matters (LP negotiations, side letters, regulatory considerations)Provide strategic counsel on portfolio management, including bolt-on acquisitions, exits, restructurings, and governance mattersOversee and manage external counsel across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring efficient and high-quality deliverySupport senior stakeholders on regulatory, compliance, and risk management matters across key marketsBuild and lead a high-performing legal team over time RequirementsQualified lawyer with 15+ years of experience, ideally trained at a top-tier international law firm with subsequent in-house experience within private equity, asset management, or a related platformStrong track record in private equity transactions, including cross-border M&A and investmentsExperience with fund formation / LP advisory is highly desirableCommercially minded, with the ability to operate as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders and investment professionalsProven ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-performance environmentEffectively bilingual in English and Mandarin is critical, given frequent interaction with Chinese stakeholders, counterparties, and documentationPrior experience in Asia / APAC markets is strongly preferred
