Role OverviewWe are seeking a seasoned General Manager - MEP Design Management to drive the design, planning, and execution of MEP systems across projects. This is an individual contributor role with high ownership, requiring close collaboration with cross-functional teams including design, execution, commercial, and external consultants.
The role will focus on ensuring design excellence, cost efficiency, and timely delivery, while aligning with business objectives and delivering a superior customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
Design and EngineeringLead the design and engineering of Mechanical, Electrical, ELV, HVAC, Plumbing, and Firefighting systems.Review and validate DBRs, design drawings, documents, technical specifications, cost estimates, and project reports.Oversee all MEPF system calculations such as load estimation, fault level analysis, DG/UPS sizing, SLDs, lighting layouts, earthing, lightning protection & aviation systems, earthing, FAPA, security systems, elevators, BMUs, pumping systems, OHT, UGT, Fire tanks, plumbing systems, Waste management (soil & water), STP, ventilation systems - mechanical & conventional parking, FOH & BOH, fire-fighting systems, pressurization systems, etc.
Project ManagementManage the complete life cycle of MEP projects from planning to execution and commissioning, starting from mobilizing new projects to handing over completed ones including supervising Testing & Commissioning.Monitor project progress, resolve site issues, and ensure adherence to design specifications and safety standards.Plan and manage resource allocation, cash flow, project schedules, and risk assessments.
Stakeholder CoordinationInterface with clients, architects, structure and MEPF consultants, vendors, contractors, and third-party agencies.Representing to regulatory authorities for any specific cases, when required (MCGM, MOEF, UDCPR, CFO, BEST, MGL, etc)Handle RFIs, coordinate with BIM teams, and participate in design and construction meetings to resolve challenges.
Quality, Safety, and ComplianceEnsure compliance with national and international standards including NBC and HSE, ASHRAE guidelines.Maintain documentation related to material approvals, quality control, testing, and commissioning.
Team LeadershipManage and mentor a multidisciplinary MEP team, driving performance and technical excellence.Organize regular training programs, technical seminars, and status meetings to enhance team capabilities.Maintain consultants' evaluation forms to ensure quality control. Lead consultants' team as per standard Pre-Con design programme to ensure timely delivery of BOQ, Tender & GFC packages with required quality, for main & sub-contractors / vendors
Pre-Sales and Business SupportSupport pre-sales activities including RFP/RFQ responses, technical proposal preparation, and contract negotiations.
Key Requirements
Education:Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering (BE Mech/Elec.).Master's Degree in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering - preferred
Experience:20+ years of experience in Mech / Elec Design and MEP Project Management.Experience in residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.Experience across the project lifecycle; from design to execution.International project experience is a plus.
Technical Skills:Expertise in MEP design and execution (Electrical, Mechanical, ELV, HVAC, Plumbing, Firefighting, all DBRs, etc).Hands-on experience with tools like AutoCAD, Dialux (Lighting Design), and Simaris (SLD Preparation).Strong knowledge of BIM coordination, NBC codes, Green Building Concepts (LEED/IGBC/EDGE projects).Familiarity with power systems, LT/HT systems, building automation, and sustainability requirements.Lead Value Engineering initiatives to optimize costs without compromising the "luxury" experience
Certifications:LEED / IGBC Accredited Professional (IGBC-AP)
