General Sales Manager

WMTW and WPXT, the ABC and CW affiliates in Westbrook/Portland, Maine, are looking for an experienced General Sales Manager with a record of success. You possess motivational and sales skills, plus 5+ years as a General Sales Manager or Local Sales Manager, or equivalent experience. You have skills in budgeting, forecasting, managing inventory, recruiting accomplished sales people and generating revenue.

The role reports to the President and General Manager.

Responsibilities

• Manage and guide an experienced sales team to achieve station goals on all platforms.
• Develop, implement, and communicate sales strategies and action plans.
• Manage the station’s inventory and rates.
• Meet with clients and advertisers to maintain high visibility in the community.
• Create and manage non-traditional revenue and new business projects.
• Communicate with the station’s national rep firm to set goals and objectives.
• Work with the promotion department to create sales opportunities.
• Collaborate with the General Manager and other department managers to accomplish station goals.

Requirements

• Five years of broadcast sales management experience.
• Experience with transactional, new business, digital, and multi‑platform sales.
• Strong motivation and sales skills to achieve success.
• Ability to price, forecast, budget, and implement a clear plan and vision.
• Creative selling abilities.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable automobile.
• Related military experience will be considered.
