Overview
Auburn University Facilities Management is seeking aforward-thinking GIS Manager to shape the future of AuburnUniversity's campus through data, technology, and innovation. Asthe GIS Manager, you will lead Facilities Management's enterpriseGIS program, ensuring accurate and accessible geospatial data thatsupports campus planning, utilities, facilities operations, spacemanagement, and major capital projects. This leadership rolecombines strategic vision, technical expertise, and collaborationacross the university to develop GIS solutions that improvedecision-making, streamline operations, and support the continuedgrowth of Auburn's campus.
Responsibilities
- Manages the development, administration, and continuousimprovement of Auburn University Facilities Management's GISprogram. Leads the integration and ongoing support of an enterpriseGIS environment.
- Serves as the department's subject matter expert for GIStechnologies, enterprise GIS system maintenance, and location-basedinformation support. Researches emerging geospatial technologiesand develops long-range strategies to enhance and continuouslyimprove GIS capabilities.
- Designs, develops, and maintains GIS databases, applications,dashboards, web maps, and reporting tools. Maintains the campus mapand other online GIS resources.
- Coordinates the collection, organization, maintenance, andsharing of geospatial, land, space, design, utilities, andfacilities data, including the integration of computer-aided design(CAD), building information management (BIM), portable documentformat (PDF) and other formats into GIS.
- Establishes and maintains GIS standards, operating procedures,data governance practices, and metadata requirements to ensure theaccuracy, integrity, consistency, security, and accessibility ofenterprise geospatial data.
- Collaborates with Campus Planning and Space Management,Facilities Management departments, and other universitystakeholders on the collection and review of geospatial informationto ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Develops geospatial analysis and decision-support tools thatsupport campus planning, space management, facilities operations,utilities, capital projects, and other university administrativeunits.
- Collaborates with Information Technology (IT) on GIS systemmaintenance and integration with enterprise business systems,including integrated work management systems (IWMS), real estatemanagement, document management, and other location-basedsystems.
- Manages GIS-related projects and consultants, and collaborateswith planners, architects, engineers, IT professionals, and otherstakeholders, to improve workflows, data integration, andenterprise GIS capabilities.
- Provides technical guidance, training, and consultation on GIStechnologies and geospatial data management. Promotes GIS bestpractices and supports the effective use of enterprise GISapplications throughout Facilities Management.
Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geographic Information Systems, UrbanPlanning, Engineering, or a closely related field.
Experience:
- 5 years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS),including enterprise geospatial database administration, ESRItechnologies (ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Enterprise),GIS application and systems integration, geospatial datagovernance, and support of facilities, infrastructure, planning, orrelated GIS operations.
