Role: Head of Education - Inclusive Education, Mumbai
Experience: 12-15 years
Salary: 20-25 LPA
Role Overview:
The Head – Education will provide strategic and operational leadership to the Jai Vakeel Foundation's flagship Education program across four schools. The primary mandate is to ensure high-quality learning outcomes, communication, participation, and transition success for students with Intellectual Disability (ID). This leadership role involves strengthening educational practices, building staff capacity, and bridging the school section with adulthood and Skill Development to empower every child to reach their fullest potential.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Educational Vision
- Define clear, individualized goals targeting skills, competencies, and independence levels for children up to age 18.
- Oversee a robust admissions process designed to assess each child's unique strengths, needs, and support requirements for optimal placement.
- Cultivate a fully integrated model collaborating with educators, therapists, and families to achieve functional independence and transition readiness.
Transition to Adulthood & Employment Readiness (18+ Program)
- Design and manage early, structured transition pathways for students moving toward adulthood, vocational training, independent living, and employment.
- Establish clear readiness criteria and documented progression tracks.
- Collaborate closely with the Skill Development team to ensure seamless placement into post-school programs.
Excellence & Capacity Building
- Set up and govern quality standards, frameworks, and audits across all 4 schools to maintain operational excellence and accountability.
- Continuously review and improve curriculum, pedagogy, and instructional practices through regular classroom observations.
- Partner with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) and Healthcare teams to evaluate data, track student progress, and drive continuous improvement.
- Pilot innovative initiatives and spearhead professional coaching, development, and succession planning for school heads, teachers, and support staff.
Internal and External Stakeholder Management
- Supply the Fundraising and Donor Engagement teams with programmatic insights, data, and impact stories.
- Work alongside HR to recruit, develop, and retain high-performing educational talent and volunteers.
- Partner with Finance for departmental budgeting and strategic resource allocation.
- Collaborate with the Communications team to showcase educational milestones and thought leadership within the disability sector.
- Cultivate strategic alliances with government bodies, universities, networks, and allied organizations to foster internships, research, and advocacy.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Master's degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, Human Development, or a related field. Additional qualifications in educational leadership or disability studies management are highly advantageous.
- Experience: 14–16 years of progressive experience within education, special education, developmental disabilities, or allied sectors.
- Leadership: Proven track record of managing large educational programs, institutions, or multi-site operations.
- Expertise: Strong command of curriculum development, learning assessments, educator training frameworks, and stakeholder management (families, regulatory bodies, and government agencies).
