Head of Engineering – Design & Engineering

Location: HQ, Chennai

Modulus Housing is seeking a highly experienced Head of Engineering to lead the design,

engineering, and technical development of next-generation prefab and modular building

systems.

This is a strategic leadership role for an engineering professional who has successfully

delivered large-scale steel building projects and built high-performing engineering teams

across PEB, prefab, precast, modular, or industrialized construction environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the structural engineering, BIM, detailing, and technical design functions.
• Drive engineering excellence across steel structures, PEB, modular, prefab, and industrialized construction projects.
• Develop scalable engineering systems, standards, and processes that improve quality, speed, and project profitability.
• Lead the implementation of Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles across engineering workflows.
• Collaborate with procurement, manufacturing, project execution, and commercial teams to ensure efficient project delivery.
• Oversee structural design reviews, technical approvals, value engineering, and cost optimization initiatives.
• Build, mentor, and develop a high-performance multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Support business growth through technical leadership, innovation, and stakeholder management.

Required Qualifications

• M.Tech / M.E. in Structural Engineering.
• 10+ years of experience in construction engineering and structural design.
• Proven experience in PEB, Prefab, Precast, Modular, or Industrialized Construction Projects.
• Strong experience in managing and leading engineering or technical teams.
• Experience working within EPC, manufacturing-integrated, or design-build project environments.
• Strong understanding of structural steel design, construction engineering, and project delivery.
• Experience with Light Gauge Steel Framing (LGSF) systems is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of DFMA principles and engineering process optimization.
• Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership skills.

• Productization of construction systems.
• Engineering leadership within fast-paced, growth-oriented organizations.
• BIM-driven engineering workflows and digital design environments.
• Cost optimization, value engineering, and project profitability management.
