Reports to: President of Programming, Promotion and ProductionClassification: Exempt
General SummaryResponsible for leading and supervising the overall programming operations of WAPA and WAPA+, and providing support to WAPA America channels, ensuring the proper strategic and operational execution of content across all platforms.
Directly oversees Master Control functions, the channel’s video library, and the programming editors team, ensuring on-air continuity, compliance with rights, operational efficiency, and alignment with the Company’s content strategy.
Responsibilities, Duties, and Essential Tasks
- Strategic and Operational Programming Management- Lead the execution of programming logistics for WAPA and WAPA+.- Develop, structure, and validate the weekly and monthly programming grid.- Ensure proper distribution of the programming grid.- Implement and communicate programming changes.- Provide support through analysis and reports.
- Content Control, Rights, and Usage- Oversee delivery and processing of all content.- Validate programming acquisitions.- Track content usage and rights expiration.- Maintain records in SIMS.- Generate reports on content needs.- Coordinate with suppliers.
- Technical, Operational Coordination and Video Library Management- Coordinate formats and timing with Traffic.- Oversee systems such as Wide Orbit.- Ensure ingestion and archiving in Media Central.- Coordinate workflows and technical processes.- Oversee content organization.- Coordinate live events with Engineering.- Manage system cleanup.
Video Library Management and Preservation- Oversee video library organization and preservation.- Establish archiving standards.- Ensure storage, backup and migration.- Maintain quality and integrity of content.- Coordinate digitization processes.- Manage lifecycle of content.- Ensure access control.- Prevent loss or duplication.
- Contract Administration and Vendor Relations- Manage contracts with providers.- Coordinate content delivery.- Ensure alignment of rights and execution.
- Team Supervision and Personnel Management- Supervise programming staff.- Oversee Master Control and video library.- Manage payroll and performance.- Conduct evaluations.- Support recruitment.- Define work plans.
- Analysis, Reporting, and Budget- Prepare ratings reports.- Develop analyses.- Provide cost information.- Prepare budget.- Handle regulatory reporting.
- Operational Continuity and Decision-Making- Ensure continuity during disruptions.- Make real-time decisions.- Execute programming plans.
Job Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field.- Proficiency in MS Office.- Bilingual communication skills.- Knowledge of systems.- Strong analytical thinking.- Ability to multitask.- High confidentiality.
