Job Description
Job SummaryThe Head - Quality Control will lead the complete quality control functions at Ultimate Alloys, ensuring delivery of high-integrity steel castings meeting stringent customer and international standards. The role is responsible for quality planning, inspection systems, customer compliance, NDT coordination, root cause analysis, audit management, and continuous quality improvement across foundry. The candidate should possess strong exposure in steel foundry operations, especially in critical castings for oil & gas, refinery, pump, valve, and EPC customers.Key ResponsibilitiesQuality LeadershipLead and manage the entire QC department including inspectors, NDT personnel and lab technicians.Develop robust quality systems aligned with customer and international requirements.Drive a proactive quality culture across melting, molding, pouring, heat treatment, fettling, welding, machining, and final inspection stages.Monitor and improve quality KPIs including rejection, rework, COPQ, customer complaints, and OTD quality clearance.Customer & Project Quality ManagementHandle customer quality requirements for critical projects and export orders.Coordinate with customers, third-party inspection agencies, and consultants during inspections.Ensure compliance with:ASTM / ASME / API standardsNORSOK requirementsPED requirementsADNOC and major oil & gas customer specificationsReview and approve:ITPsQAPsQuality dossiersNDT reportsMaterial test certificatesInspection & Testing ControlOversee:Incoming material inspectionIn-process inspectionFinal dimensional inspectionRadiography (RT)Ultrasonic Testing (UT)MPI / DPIEnsure effective stage-wise inspection and traceability systems.Ensure calibration and maintenance of all measuring and testing instruments.Metallurgical & Process Quality ControlMonitor process quality during:MeltingPouringHeat treatmentWeld repairMachiningLead defect analysis and corrective actions for:ShrinkagePorositySand inclusionCracksWeld defectsDimensional deviationsCoordinate with production and planning teams to prevent repeat failures.Audit & System ManagementMaintain ISO quality management systems and customer approvals.Lead:Customer auditsProcess auditsSystem auditsThird-party auditsEnsure documentation and traceability compliance throughout the manufacturing cycle.Continuous ImprovementImplement Lean and Six Sigma initiatives for rejection reduction.Improve First Pass Yield (FPY) and reduce rework.Drive preventive actions and process capability improvements.Establish lessons-learned systems for critical projects.Desired Candidate ProfileQualificationB.E / B.Tech in Mechanical or Metallurgical Engineering.Experience8+ years of experience in steel foundry quality control.Minimum 5 years in a senior leadership role.Strong experience in:Carbon steel castingsStainless steel castingsAlloy steel castingsDuplex / Super Duplex gradesCritical pressure-containing castingsTechnical CompetenciesStrong knowledge of:ASTM / ASME / API standardsRadiographic interpretationNDT methodsWelding quality requirementsFamiliarity with ERP and quality documentation systems.Ability to interpret customer specifications and critical technical requirements.Behavioral CompetenciesStrong leadership capabilityCustomer-focused mindsetExcellent problem-solving skillsHigh accountability and ownershipStrong communication and coordination skillsAbility to work under project pressure and tight delivery schedulesKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Customer rejection rateInternal rejection %Rework reductionAudit compliance scoreCAPA effectivenessOn-time quality clearanceCOPQ reductionCustomer satisfaction indexPreferred Industry BackgroundCandidates from:Steel foundriesPump & valve casting manufacturersOil & gas component manufacturersHeavy engineering foundrieswill be preferred.
