Job Description
The Head of Technology Data Management will lead the enterprise capability to manage, govern, and operationalize technology reference data across infrastructure, cyber, cloud, AI, and other technology domains, building a Databricks-based data fabric that transforms fragmented data into a trusted enterprise asset.
Key Accountabilities
Enterprise Technology Data Strategy
- Define and lead the enterprise strategy, operating model, and roadmap for technology reference data.
- Establish a scalable technology data fabric leveraging Databricks.
- Create a long‑term vision for trusted technology data supporting governance, reporting, analytics, operational management, and risk oversight.
- Drive enterprise adoption of common data standards, governance practices, and technology data products.
Data Governance & Quality Management
- Establish governance frameworks for accurate, complete, authoritative technology data.
- Define ownership, stewardship, accountability, and quality controls across domains.
- Implement monitoring, remediation, and continuous improvement processes.
- Ensure alignment with regulatory, audit, risk, security, and compliance requirements.
Metadata, Data Dictionary & Data Marketplace
- Own the enterprise technology data dictionary and business glossary.
- Maintain metadata standards, lineage, and cataloguing capabilities.
- Create a data marketplace enabling stakeholders to discover, understand and consume data assets.
- Drive consistent interpretation across the organization.
Common Taxonomy & Data Modeling
- Define and maintain a technology taxonomy spanning infrastructure, cyber, cloud, AI, applications, services, products, assets, risks, and capabilities.
- Establish canonical data models and relationships across domains.
- Ensure standardization across systems and reporting platforms.
- Drive consistency in definitions, classifications, hierarchies, and business rules.
Data Products & Information Services
- Define and govern technology data products aligned to business use cases.
- Translate technical data into business‑consumable products.
- Establish reusable data asset standards, semantic layers, APIs, and reporting services.
- Prioritize data products based on value, risk reduction, and strategy.
Data Engineering & Platform Enablement
- Lead onboarding of systems of record into Databricks via APIs, event-based integrations, streaming and zero‑copy architectures.
- Establish standards for data integration, ingestion, transformation, and observability.
- Ensure scalable, resilient, secure pipelines for enterprise consumption.
- Partner with engineering to optimize performance and delivery.
Reporting, Analytics & Metrics
- Establish enterprise reporting and analytics for technology management and governance.
- Define KPI frameworks, measurement standards, and reporting methodologies.
- Deliver trusted dashboards, scorecards, and executive reporting through Power BI.
- Support stakeholders in measuring operational performance, risk exposure, and outcomes.
User Experience, Report Design & Adoption
- Ensure dashboards and data products are intuitive, actionable, and stakeholder‑centric.
- Drive persona‑based reporting strategies for executives, risk, infrastructure, cyber, engineering teams.
- Establish enterprise visualization and reporting standards.
- Measure adoption, effectiveness, and business value realization.
Stakeholder Management & Leadership
- Build partnerships across Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Architecture, Finance, Risk, Data, Audit, and Engineering.
- Influence senior executives on data priorities and standards.
- Lead cross‑functional initiatives across business and tech domains.
- Champion a data‑driven decision‑making culture and accountability.
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Data Management, Information Systems or related discipline.
- Master’s Degree preferred (MBA, Data Science, Information Management, Enterprise Architecture).
- Industry certifications: Databricks, TOGAF, DAMA CDMP, ITIL, Cloud Provider (Azure, AWS, GCP) preferred.
Experience
- 12+ years in enterprise data management, data architecture, analytics, governance, or technology strategy.
- 7+ years in a senior leadership role managing large‑scale data, technology or transformation programs.
- Proven experience building data lakes, fabrics, or platforms using Databricks or equivalent.
- Deep expertise in governance, metadata, taxonomy, and common data model design.
- Experience delivering enterprise reporting and analytics with Power BI or similar.
- Experience integrating complex technology data via APIs, event‑driven architectures and modern ingestion patterns.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure, cybersecurity, cloud, AI, and enterprise technology environments.
- Experience operating in regulated industries, supporting audit, regulatory and risk requirements.
- Demonstrated success influencing executives and leading cross‑functional transformations.
