In-House Counsel

Quanta Aviation Services (QAS) is the administrative and organizational arm supporting four aviation companies within Quanta Services. Together, these companies operate the largest private utility helicopter fleet in the world.

QAS supports the aviation group through operational coordination, safety and compliance oversight, construction and rigging support, and training that prepares both flight crews and lineworkers to safely perform helicopter-supported utility work. By providing this structure and support, Quanta Aviation Services enables each operating company to focus on safe operations, customer service, and executing complex utility and construction missions nationwide.

About this Role

Reporting to the Regional Counsel, the In-House Counsel provides legal guidance to management regarding all legal matters, including contracts and operations, risk assessment, claims and litigation management, and employment counseling. The position will review, negotiate, draft, and enforce contracts through the bid, project execution, and wrap-up phases for assigned projects. As In-House Counsel, you will provide legal and commercial analysis of requests for quotations, contract documents, and all related commercial, legal, and technical documents for business conducted.

This role may report out of any of Quanta Services regional offices throughout the greater Salt Lake City metro area.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare, review, and revise utility construction agreements, subcontractor agreements, leases, easements, licensing agreements, rental agreements, and other transactional documents.
• Research, advise, and oversee compliance with applicable statutes, rules, and regulations, including OSHA and employment laws in multiple jurisdictions.
• Prepare correspondence, motions, pleadings, briefs, position statements, and claims on behalf of the company.
• Oversee licensing and permitting in multiple jurisdictions for construction activities.
• Represent the company in judicial, regulatory, or administrative proceedings in federal, state, and local forums.
• Manage and resolve construction claims and disputes, including construction defects, torts, payments, bond claims, and liens, and coordinate with outside counsel as appropriate.
• Mediate, negotiate, arbitrate, litigate, and present oral argue on behalf of the company.
• Develop and present recommendations to company management to ensure compliance with applicable legal authority and minimize legal risks.

What You’ll Bring

• JD; 5+ years of experience working in either a private practice or in-house setting.
• Licensed to practice law in applicable jurisdiction.
• Experience with large-scale engineering, procurement, and construction projects is strongly preferred.
• Proven experience and skill in contract drafting, reviewing, and negotiating.
• Ability to work with a range of legal and non-legal professionals.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook etc.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Willingness to travel up to 20%
• Must pass mandatory drug screening(s).
