In-house Legal Counsel

Outline of Role:

Lanas is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic in-house solicitor to join its in-house legal team, reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer. The right candidate will be capable of dealing with a wide range of legal matters, both domestic and international, and will work with all divisions of the business. The successful candidate will enjoy significant responsibility and autonomy while working closely with the Chief Legal Officer and senior business leaders across the Group.

This role offers a unique opportunity to gain international in-house legal experience within a growing healthcare technology group. The successful candidate will work with colleagues, customers and advisers across Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand and be exposed to a broad range of commercial, regulatory, privacy, technology and corporate matters. Lanas supports flexible ways of working and hybrid or remote working arrangements will be considered for the successful candidate, with regular attendance at the Sandyford office expected to facilitate collaboration and engagement with colleagues across the Group.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supporting business teams in the delivery of strategic initiatives, new products and customer engagements by providing practical, commercially focused legal advice;
• Drafting, negotiating, reviewing and advising on a wide variety of commercial contracts;
• Partnering with senior management and business leaders to identify, assess and mitigate legal and regulatory risks while supporting commercial growth objectives;
• Considering, evaluating and advising the product team in respect of any legal and regulatory requirements for new products or developments;
• Advising the business on data protection, privacy, information governance and emerging regulatory requirements, including those relating to artificial intelligence and digital health technologies;
• Advising and supporting business operations across Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand on a broad range of legal, commercial, regulatory and compliance matters;
• Providing ad hoc legal advice to various areas within the business including Human Resources, Sales, Operations and Marketing;
• Reviewing and updating commercial contracts;
• Advising on technology, software licensing, intellectual property and SaaS-related matters across the Group's operations;
• Assisting with company secretarial matters and compliance;
• Developing and maintaining legal templates, precedents and guidance materials; and Other administrative and ad hoc duties.

Person Specifications:

• A qualified solicitor with a minimum of 3 years’ experience;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and corporate agreements;
• Proven commercial awareness and pragmatism;
• Strong attention to detail;
• An understanding of finance agreements and arrangements;
• Strong commercial acumen and the ability to provide pragmatic, business-focused legal advice;
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving environment;
• Experience engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing decision-making across a complex organisation;
• Willing to travel to our offices in Sligo, Cork and the United Kingdom;
• An interest in healthcare technology, artificial intelligence, data protection and innovation;
• Proven track record of working on your own initiative and as part of a team;
• Ability to multi-task, prioritise work and manage time to maximise efficiency and to meet strict deadlines; and
• Previous in-house and data protection experience would be an advantage.
