Role Description The Indian Dance & Bharatnatyam Teacher will design and deliver structured dance lessons that introduce and deepen learners’ understanding of Indian classical dance, with a primary focus on Bharatnatyam. Responsibilities include planning age-appropriate curricula, teaching technique, theory, and performance skills, and preparing students for school events, examinations, and productions. The teacher will collaborate with other faculty to integrate dance into interdisciplinary projects, uphold student safety and wellbeing in practice sessions, and maintain ongoing communication with parents and the school leadership team.
This is a full-time, on-site role based at Indus International School Bangalore in Bengaluru.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong skills in Bharatnayam & Indian Dance forms Instruction and Dance Education, with the ability to design structured, progressive learning experiences.
- Candidates should possess skills in Teaching and the above Dance forms, including classroom management, student engagement, and performance preparation.
- Candidates should possess a foundational understanding of Music to support rhythm, coordination, and expression in dance training.
- Formal training or advanced certification in Bharatnatyam from a recognized institution and guru is highly desirable.
- Prior experience teaching school-age learners in a similar educational setting is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills in English, and the ability to collaborate with a diverse, international school community, are preferred.
- Demonstrated passion for Indian classical arts and commitment to student-centered, inclusive teaching practices is an advantage.
