About the Role

The Research Institute for Peace and Security (RIPS) is seeking a sharp, well-connected International Relations Specialist based in India. In this contract role, you will produce original, deeply researched, and highly detailed analytical reports on pressing global affairs and regional security matters from an Indian strategic perspective.

The ideal candidate possesses an extensive network within Indian government entities and an ability to translate complex geopolitical shifts into authoritative, intelligence-driven analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Original Reporting: Author comprehensive, long-form reports and policy-oriented articles analyzing major international relations and national security issues through an Indian lens.
• Source Utilization: Leverage legitimate, verified relationships within Indian Ministries, defense establishments, and official authorities to provide grounded, insider-informed analysis.
• Geopolitical Analysis: Track and dissect structural changes in South Asian dynamics, maritime security, trade corridors, and regional conflicts, providing actionable insights.
• Fact-Verification: Maintain high standards of journalistic integrity and analytical precision, cross-referencing insights with open-source data to produce unassailable analysis.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: A Master’s degree or higher in International Relations, Strategic Studies, Political Science, Journalism, or a related field is preferred.
• Source Network: Proven access to and established relationships with legitimate contacts across key Indian government ministries and strategic bodies.
• Professional Background:
• Prior experience in intelligence work, strategic defense analysis, or national security reporting is highly desirable.
• A strong background in hard-news journalism, editorial writing, or foreign correspondence is an advantage.
• Skills: Exceptional analytical capability, crisp writing, and an advanced understanding of India's foreign policy doctrines and strategic red lines.

Compensation & Growth

This is a fully independent contract engagement. Initial remuneration stands at $150 to $200 USD per accepted report. RIPS values exceptional depth and precision; compensation per piece will systematically scale upward based on the sophistication, thoroughness, and impact of your submissions.
