Lead Engineer — Mooring & Anchoring Systems
Floatex Solar
New Delhi, India Full Time Engineering Jobs India New
Job Description
About Floatex Solar
Floatex Solar is India's dominant floating solar PV technology company. With over 1 GW of delivered capacity and an active pipeline across Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, we work with India's largest power and infrastructure groups.
We provide the engineering backbone for India's most complex floating solar installations: large-scale reservoir and water body projects that few companies in the country have the expertise to deliver.
What You'll Do
Technical Ownership
- Define mooring strategy (catenary / elastic / hybrid) for each project based on site conditions, wind/wave data, and bathymetry surveys
- Review and validate mooring analysis reports — challenge assumptions, verify safety factors, confirm design intent is captured
- Develop anchor sizing calculations (deadweight concrete blocks, driven anchors, piles) and verify holding capacity against IS and API standards
Site & Execution Interface
- Prepare anchor dropping schedules and surveyor-ready deliverables for site teams
- Conduct or supervise bathymetric surveys; interpret contour data for anchor layout planning
- Support site teams during installation — resolve field deviations, approve substitutions, document as-built
- Develop and refine A&M installation SOPs; train site engineers on mooring procedures
Standards & Intellectual Property
- Lead Floatex's internal A&M knowledge library — component selection guides, design basis templates, load calculation tools
- Participate in BIS/MNRE standard-setting for floating solar mooring
- Interface with regulatory and certification bodies (RINA, IRS, MNRE) on A&M documentation submissions
What We're Looking For
Essential
- 8–14 years in offshore/marine engineering with direct mooring system experience
- Hands-on mooring analysis — catenary, taut-leg, or elastic mooring systems
- Proficiency with mooring analysis software: OrcaFlex, Aqwa, Moses, or equivalent
- Working knowledge of API-RP-2SK, DNV-OS-E301, or OCIMF mooring standards
- Anchor design experience: deadweight, driven, or drag embedment anchors
- Bathymetric survey interpretation and anchor coordinate generation
- Ability to critically review consultant reports — not just accept them
Preferred (not mandatory)
- Experience with freshwater reservoir environments (fetch-limited wave climate, sediment variation)
- Exposure to FPV / floating solar mooring — even if limited
- Familiarity with Indian IS standards for civil/marine works
- Experience coordinating with third-party certification bodies (RINA, IRS, BV)
Academic Background
- B.Tech / B.E. in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Mechanical/Civil with strong marine exposure
- M.Tech in relevant discipline is a plus but not required
