Job Description
Licensed Diesel Truck & Trailer Technician (Technician I)
Location: Delta, BC Schedule: Evening (2nd) Shift — Monday to Friday, 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM Pay: $45.00 to $47.00 per hour (base $42.00–$44.00/hour + $3.00 second-shift premium) — plus overtime and full benefits
Are you a licensed technician who's tired of being undervalued?
You've put in the years. You hold your ticket. You can diagnose and repair anything that rolls through the bay. Now you want a shop with the trucks, the technology, and the tools to match your skill — and a company that actually recognizes what you're worth.
We're recruiting on behalf of a global leader in commercial truck and trailer leasing, maintenance, and transportation solutions. This is a clean, modern, well-equipped shop with OEM training and real room to grow.
If you're a Red Seal or journeyperson truck technician ready for your next move, we want to talk to you.
What you'll do
As a Technician I, you'll diagnose, overhaul, adjust, and repair all series of motor truck and trailer equipment — working independently and efficiently with little to no supervision.
- Perform all levels of preventive maintenance
- Diagnose and troubleshoot major components — engines, transmissions, differentials — including replacing complete assemblies, turbochargers, and fuel system components
- Inspect brake systems, steering, wheel bearings, and safety devices to spec
- Road test vehicles to confirm repairs and diagnose malfunctions
- Identify warrantable repairs and document on the repair order
- Use the full range of hand, power, diagnostic, and welding tools of the trade
- Keep your work area clean, organized, and safe
What you bring
- 5+ years of hands-on tractor-trailer maintenance experience
- Red Seal (Truck and Transport Mechanic / Transport Trailer Technician) or active provincial journeyperson certification
- Current membership/registration with the respective government trade body
- Class 3 (or D) driver's licence with air brake endorsement — or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Proficiency with diagnostic equipment, welding equipment, and hand/power tools
- Comfortable working in non-climate-controlled conditions
- Reliable, full-time attendance and willingness to travel within the district as needed
Total earning potential — beyond the base rate
This evening shift pays $45.00 to $47.00/hour (base $42–44 plus the $3.00 second-shift premium), and that's just the starting point:
- $3.00/hour second-shift premium — already built into the rate above
- Overtime paid at premium rates
- Weekend premium available when applicable
- RRSP program with company match
- Tool and boot allowance
- Free uniforms and laundry service
- Affordable health and dental benefits package
- Vacation time + 11 paid statutory holidays + paid sick days
- Tuition reimbursement and comprehensive OEM technical training
- Employee Assistance Program
- Partner discounts
- Real opportunity for advancement throughout the company
