Lifeguards, Swim Instructors, & Youth Swim Coaches

: MPS Community Education is in search of responsible, attentive, and safety-focused professionals to help provide a safe, welcoming, and inclusive aquatic environment for the greater Minneapolis community!

Qualifications:

Minimum of 16 years of age LIFEGUARD: Lifeguarding certification, or must be willing to obtain certification within 30 days of hire date SWIM INSTRUCTOR: Water Safety Instructor certification, or must be willing to obtain certification within 30 days SWIM COACH: USA Swimming Coach (or Jr Coach) certification, or must be willing to obtain within 30 days

Responsibilities:

Maintain a clean and safe environment Supervise activity in and around the pool Demonstrate knowledge and aptitude in swim skills Enforce safety policies, guidelines, and procedures Recognize and respond effectively in an emergency Communicate professionally with individuals of all ages Facilitate swim program and building needs

Physical Requirements:

Pass a pre-employment test of skills and knowledge Work in a variety of environments that may be cold, hot, wet, noisy, odorous Concentrate for long periods of time and maintain constant surveillance Communicate verbally and loudly across distances Walk, stand, sit, reach, and kneel for long periods of time Bend and lift in accordance with certification requirements Maintain fitness in order to meet the requirements of certification(s)
