About the Role
As a Manager on the Solutions Engineering team at Mixpanel, you will lead a talented group of analytics consultants who are pivotal to our success. You will be at the forefront of driving customer value, guiding your team as they serve as the primary technical resources for our Sales organization.
This role is a unique blend of leadership, technical expertise, and business strategy. You will coach and develop your team, refine our technical sales processes, collaborate across departments to ensure our customers achieve their business outcomes with Mixpanel, and play a key role in hiring, onboarding, and managing the next wave of Solutions Engineers.
By fostering a culture of excellence and deep customer empathy, you will empower your team to architect innovative solutions, drive product adoption, and ultimately secure the technical win with prospects and customers.
Responsibilities
- Develop & Mentor: Lead, coach, and grow a high‑performing and inclusive team of Solutions Engineers, actively investing in their career development and upholding a high standard of performance.
- Drive Results: Partner closely with Sales leadership and Account Executives to provide technical expertise that drives new, retained, and expansion ARR, ensuring the team's activities directly contribute to the company's bottom line.
- Prioritize & Problem Solve: Guide your team through complex customer evaluations and technical challenges, managing resources effectively and aligning skills to customer needs to achieve productivity targets and successful outcomes.
- Cross‑Functional Partnership: Act as a key technical liaison, collaborating with peer managers across Sales, Product, and Engineering, gathering and synthesizing customer feedback to influence product strategy and solve problems at scale.
- Communicate & Manage Change: Translate broader company and departmental strategy into clear, actionable goals for your team, guiding direct reports through evolving business priorities with empathy and clarity.
- Hire the Best: Assess team needs, build a pipeline of top talent, and hire outstanding individuals to elevate the team's capabilities and contribute to an inclusive culture.
- Innovate & Raise the Bar: Continuously improve team operations, from refining demo strategies and proof‑of‑concept methodologies to adopting new tools and processes that increase effectiveness.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of people‑management experience leading a technical pre‑sales, solutions engineering, or professional services team in a B2B SaaS environment.
- Deep knowledge of data and analytics products (e.g., CDPs, data warehouses, analytics tools) and how they are implemented and adopted by customers.
- Track record of working with sales teams to navigate complex deals and drive revenue.
- Expertise in communicating complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Strong prioritization and workload management skills in a dynamic environment.
- Natural mentor and talent developer, passionate about coaching and building inclusive, high‑achieving teams.
- Ability to handle ambiguity, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive, problem‑solving mindset.
- Openness to feedback, humility, and a commitment to continuous improvement for self and team.
Bonus Points
- Management consulting, strategic operations, or a similar go‑to‑market role.
- Hands‑on experience with Mixpanel or other product analytics tools such as Amplitude, Pendo, or Contentsquare.
- Familiarity with the modern data stack (Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Segment, Hightouch).
Compensation
The amount listed below is the total target cash compensation (TTCC) and includes base and variable compensation. In addition to the cash compensation, this position is also eligible for equity consideration and benefits including medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage.
$238,300 - $321,705 USD
Salary ranges are based on role and level and benchmarked to the SF Bay Area Technology data cut released by Radford. The range represents the minimum and maximum TTCC for new hire salaries across all US locations, refreshed twice a year.
