Mail Delivery Driver and Owner Operator (Cargo Van)

Position Summary

The Mail Delivery Subcontractor is responsible for the secure collection, transportation, and delivery of mail, parcels, packets, and related products between designated facilities and delivery points. The successful candidate will ensure all items are delivered safely, accurately, and on schedule while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, security, and service reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, transport, and deliver mail, parcels, packets, and related products according to assigned schedules and routes.
• Load and unload mail and parcels safely and efficiently.
• Maintain proper organization and segregation of products during transportation and delivery.
• Complete daily delivery and collection activities while meeting all scheduled service requirements.
• Ensure the security and confidentiality of all items while in transit.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report maintenance concerns promptly.
• Maintain communication with dispatch and management throughout the workday.
• Report delays, route disruptions, vehicle breakdowns, weather-related issues, or service irregularities immediately.
• Operate handheld devices, scanners, and mobile applications as required.
• Maintain accurate records of deliveries, collections, and operational activities.
• Follow all transportation, safety, and operational procedures.
• Assist with loading, unloading, and movement of equipment and containers as required.
• Represent the company professionally while interacting with customers, businesses, and facility personnel.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in courier or postal operations in St. Albans, Newfoundland.
• Applicants must currently reside or operate in Newfoundland and Labrador.
• Valid full G Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Clean criminal background check and security screening.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet strict deadlines.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull parcels, containers, and equipment.
• Ability to repeatedly load and unload delivery vehicles.
• Comfortable working in various weather conditions.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and drive for extended periods.

Additional Requirements

• Subcontractor must provide an enclosed cargo van with a minimum cargo capacity of 250 cubic feet and a minimum payload capacity of 800 kg.
• Preference will be given to applicants residing in St. Alban's, Milltown, Head Bay d'Espoir, Harbour Breton, or surrounding communities.
