Payroll Officer (Part‑time 30 hours per week, fixed‑term) – The role is based in either Brisbane or Maroochydore and is part of the Head Office team. The incumbent will deliver accurate, timely and compliant end‑to‑end payroll processing across a portfolio of properties while providing high‑level customer service and support to employees and leaders.
Reporting to the Group Payroll Manager, the individual will ensure payroll accuracy, legislative compliance and continuous process improvement within a high‑volume, multi‑site environment.
Responsibilities
- End‑to‑end processing of fortnightly payroll across a portfolio of properties
- Managing Workers Compensation payments, Paid Parental Leave (Services Australia), and Child Support obligations (where applicable)
- Maintaining payroll and leave systems, ensuring accurate employee records
- Interpreting awards, enterprise agreements and contracts, including overtime and shift allowances
- Processing new starters, variations, increases, back pays and termination payments
- Calculating and reconciling annual leave and long service leave accruals
- Assisting with month‑end reporting, payroll tax, reconciliations and General Ledger balancing
- Preparing internal and statutory payroll reporting
- Responding to payroll‑related queries from employees and managers
- Supporting payroll compliance, audits and ad hoc projects as required
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in high‑volume payroll processing (essential)
- Strong understanding of Australian payroll legislation, awards and compliance requirements
- Experience with Workers Compensation (preferred but not essential)
- Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and urgency
- High attention to detail and strong reconciliation skills
- Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and problem‑solving abilities
