Overview: We are seeking an experienced Pipe Welder with a strong maritime background to perform high-quality welding on piping systems in accordance with industry standards and specifications. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in multiple welding processes, the ability to interpret technical documentation, and a commitment to safety, quality, and productivity in a shipyard environment.ResponsibilitiesComprehend and follow instructions, drawings, and general correspondenceMaintain a working knowledge of ship repair terminology and ship compartment naming conventionsWear and properly utilize all required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with OSHA standardsPrepare written condition reports and recommend corrective actions when requiredPerform pipe welding using SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and silver brazing processes as applicableCertify and perform welding on P-3 joints with permanent backing rings and P-14 socket weld jointsInterpret drawings, specifications, and applicable Navy, MSC, ABS, and industry standard manualsOperate, maintain, and care for welding equipment, portable power tools, and hand toolsProvide direction to pipe welding helpers as needed to complete assigned tasksArrive at the designated worksite on time and work assigned shifts and overtime as requiredMaintain a clean and safe work environment at all timesEnsure work areas are properly prepared and safe for hot work operationsCommunicate effectively with Fire Watch personnel and provide direction as neededProduce quality workmanship and provide Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) as requiredConfer with supervisors to resolve unexpected issues related to assigned workCarry out written and verbal instructions efficiently and safelyComply with all company policies, including non-discrimination and anti-harassment policiesQualificationsMinimum of four (4) years of pipe welding experience in the maritime industryThorough knowledge of SMAW, FCAW, and GMAW welding theoryAbility to certify in:P-3 Joint with Permanent Backing RingP-14 Socket Weld JointSMAWGTAWFCAWSilver BrazingAbility to interpret drawings, specifications, and technical manualsWorking knowledge of marine pipe welding equipment and processesAbility to operate welding equipment, portable power tools, and hand toolsAbility to perform basic mathematical calculations including fractions and decimalsUnderstanding of U.S. customary and metric measurement systemsOSHA 10 Certification requiredFire Watch Certification requiredMust be DBIDS eligibleMust be able to work any shift as requiredMust be physically and medically capable of wearing all required PPE, including respirators, harnesses, flotation gear, and other safety equipmentAmeri-Force BenefitsAs part of the Ameri-Force team, a recognized ESOP company, you have a personal stake in the collective success of the organization, fostering a collaborative and rewarding work environment.
