FyneHand is mandated to hire for the position of Plant Head
Our client, a leading pharmaceutical / API firm, is looking for a Plant Head to be based in Boisar
Role Overview:The Plant Head is responsible for overseeing the entire plant operations, ensuring production targets are met with efficiency, quality, and safety. The role involves strategic planning, resource management, compliance, and continuous improvement to drive operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:Oversee Plant Operations: Ensure smooth functioning of all API production units, maintaining efficiency and compliance with SOPsMaintain regulatory compliance: Implement and monitor adherence to GMP, FDA, and other regulatory standards across the plantManage production planning: Coordinate with supply chain and R&D teams to align production schedules with demand forecastsEnsure quality assurance: Work closely with QA/QC departments to uphold product quality, safety, and consistencySafety & Compliance: Enforce workplace safety protocols and statutory compliance. Conduct regular audits and risk assessmentsResource Management: Oversee manpower planning, training, and performance management. Ensure optimal utilization of raw materials, machinery, and energyCost Control & Budgeting: Monitor operational costs and implement cost-saving initiatives.
Prepare and manage plant budgetsContinuous Improvement: Drive lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other improvement initiatives. Encourage innovation and process automationStakeholder Coordination: Liaise with supply chain, sales, and corporate teams for smooth operations. Represent the plant in management reviews and external audits
Qualification & experience:15-20 years in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with at least 5-7 years in API plant leadershipProven track record of handling regulatory inspections and audits successfullyExperience in scaling up new molecules from R&D to commercial productionBachelor's/Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Pharmacy, or related fieldMBA in Operations/Management (preferred but not mandatory)
Other Requirements (Preferred but not mandatory):Exposure to international regulatory filings (DMF, ANDA support)Certification in Lean Six Sigma or advanced process safetyExperience with digital transformation/automation in pharma plantsKnowledge of intellectual property management in APIs
Expected Output (Quantitative/Qualitative) from the role in current or next 1 year:Achieve >95% adherence to production schedules for key APIsReduce batch rejection rate to Improve yield efficiency by 5-7%Ensure zero major regulatory non-compliance observationsMaintain EHS incident frequency at zeroStrengthen compliance culture across the plantBuild a robust pipeline for leadership successionEnhance collaboration between R&D, QA, and manufacturing teamsPosition the plant as a preferred site for global regulatory auditsDrive innovation in cost reduction and sustainability initiatives
