Practice Leader, Insurance – Executive Search
This role leads the firm’s expansion across Property & Casualty (P&C), Life, and Specialty Insurance executive search. The Insurance Practice Leader will oversee strategy, business development, and delivery of senior-level assignments (Managing Director, C-suite, and Board roles), while managing and mentoring a high-performing team. The position is central to the firm’s growth in insurance, requiring deep market insight, client advisory capabilities, and operational excellence.
This position is ideal for a seasoned executive search professional with a strong track record in insurance who thrives in a strategic, client-facing leadership role and brings a player/coach mindset to team development.
Base pay range
$200,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr

Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the strategic growth plan for the Insurance practice
- Lead and mentor a team of consultants, associates, and researchers
- Cultivate and manage relationships with senior executives and institutional clients
- Oversee delivery of Managing Director, C-suite, and Board-level search assignments
- Promote operational excellence and ensure adherence to ECB STAR’s search methodology
- Represent the firm externally through thought leadership, industry events, and client advisory
The Person
ECB STAR seeks a strategic, client-focused leader with deep insurance market knowledge and a proven ability to grow and lead a practice. This individual brings executive presence, sound judgment, and a collaborative leadership style.
Qualifications & Attributes
- 10+ years of executive search experience, with a primary focus on insurance (Life, Health, P&C, Reinsurance, Brokers, Insurtech)
- 5+ years of team leadership experience in a professional services or search firm environment
- Deep market knowledge of the global insurance landscape, including carriers, brokers, and emerging Insurtech models
- Advanced degree preferred
- Strong player/coach leadership style with hands-on execution capabilities
- Outstanding judgment, executive presence, and client advisory skills
- Proven ability to manage strategic accounts, negotiate complex engagements, and develop talent
