Principal Transport Planner

An experienced Transport Planner is required to join our established Highways & Drainage team which serves the Middle East team. The ME transport team offers clients a wide range of multi-disciplinary services including Transport Planning /Modelling of local junctions and signalized networks (VISSIM, Paramics, TRANSYT, LINSIG, JUNCTIONS 8) and regional / strategic transport systems (VISUM, SATURN). The wider team also undertakes development planning work involving site appraisals, transport assessments, master planning, public transport studies and public consultation.

Job Responsibilities:

You will have knowledge of preliminary highway design, junction design and analysis, traffic software including ( TRICS, ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, TRANSYT and micro-simulation (VISSIM, Paramics) as well a good understanding of fundamental modelling techniques, traffic management techniquesYou will also be able to be a proficient user of AutoCAD for the production of preliminary junction design drawings and for the production of figures to be included in reports and planning applications. Having a working knowledge of Auto Track would also be an advantage.We are looking for someone who is able to develop as the team grows with the opportunity that WSP can offer being significant.Training of Junction staff on microsimulation modelling using VISSIM; raining of Junction staff on junction modelling using Junctions 9 and/ or LinSigs;Quality checks of data and model outputs;Research and review design options for both technical and economic impact;Management of and overseeing the on-time completion of tasks assigned to CRC and to WSP s expected standards;Take ownership of tasks assigned and search for solutions where required;To become the key point of contact with different Middle East offices for Transport Planning tasks;Be a core member of WSP s Modelling/ Transport Planning team, with key focus on detail and quality;Zeal to grow self and dedication towards working independently/ with minimal guidance where required;Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies;Clear communication (verbal and written) with colleagues in India and the UK on all matters project related technical communication and day-to-day matters;Support in writing segments of LMVRs, Forecasting Reports, and other modelling technical notes;Work within project constraints; such as time, budget and resource; and Attend and contribute in team and project meetings;Complete accurate timesheets by set deadline.

Qualifications:

Education - MTech Transportation EngineeringUnderstanding of Transport Planning and General principles- good understanding of fundamental modelling techniques, traffic management techniques and TransportReport Writing, Coding, Python, PowerBi.
