Priority Waste Driver / OperativeBelfast City CouncilWage: £13.35 p/hHours of work: Tues - Sat, 6:30 - 14:30 Belfast City Council is seeking motivated and reliable individuals to join our City Services (Resources and Fleet) team as a Priority Waste Driver / Operative.This is an important frontline role supporting the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of Belfast through priority waste collection, cleansing operations, and environmental services. The RoleReporting to the Assistant Manager, Transport and Priority Waste, successful candidates will be responsible for:Driving council vehicles and operating safely within daily routes and schedulesCollecting and transporting priority waste including bulky household items, fridge freezers, and recyclable materialsCarrying out priority cleansing duties including:Street cleansingGraffiti and fly-poster removalGum removalStreet furniture washingLand clearance and street washingSupporting general waste collection and street cleansing services when requiredCompleting all relevant paperwork, driver checks, and incident reporting documentationEnsuring compliance with health and safety legislation and council proceduresWorking effectively as part of an operational team in a public-facing environmentAssisting with emergency and seasonal duties including snow clearance and gritting operationsEssential CriteriaApplicants must, by the closing date:Hold a full current Category C1 driving licenceHold a valid Driver CPC Qualification CardDemonstrate at least 6 months' experience in:Driving within a commercial or public sector environmentDealing directly with members of the publicApplicants must also successfully complete a driving assessment as part of the recruitment process. We Are Looking For Individuals Who Have:Strong communication and customer service skillsGood teamwork and organisational abilitiesThe ability to prioritise workloads and work to schedulesA strong awareness of health and safety in operational environmentsA professional and positive approach when dealing with the publicDesirable AdvantageCandidates with at least 1 year's commercial or public sector driving experience may be prioritised at shortlist stage.
