Product Development Specialist

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Product Development (Jeans/Denim)

Role Purpose

To drive end-to-end product development and bulk execution of the denim category . Leading development activities (fabric, fit, wash, and execution), followed by supporting operational tasks such as BOM management, coordination, and tracking.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end development of denim/jeans , from concept to pre-production.
• Work closely with the design team to translate concepts into commercially viable products.
• Drive Development of fits , fabric selection, wash development, trims & finishes
• Collaborate with fabric mills and garment vendors for sampling and innovations .
• Evaluate proto/fit samples and provide clear technical feedback
• Ensure on-time sample development and adherence to range timelines.
• Work on cost optimization without compromising product quality and design intent
• Maintain strong awareness of market trends, competitor products, and innovations in denim

Range Execution

• Support category team in range building and option planning
• Align developments with price architecture (MRP/COGS targets)
• Ensure developed styles meet channel requirements (Online / Retail / MBOs) .
• Coordinate with fabric sourcing and garment vendors for sample /Fabric & Wash Developments

Operational & Coordination Responsibilities Prepare and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) with accuracy.

• Ensure all style-wise data (fabrics, trims, wash details) are updated in systems.
• Drive follow-ups with vendors and internal teams for timely development.
• Maintain trackers for Samples, Approvals, Costing sheets
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams (Design, Merchandising, Sourcing, QA).
• Ensure proper documentation and handover for bulk production readiness.

Preferred Skills & Competencies

• Strong understanding of denim product lifecycle and development processes
• Deep knowledge of Fabric & wash
• Strong eye for fit, construction, and garment detailing
• Strong follow-up and execution ability
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (mandatory)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools

Experience & Qualification

• Postgraduate from NIFT / Apparel / Textile background preferred
• B.F.Tech / M.F.Tech / M.F.M (preferred)
• 6 to 8 years of experience in jeans product development and knowledge about wash is mandatory
