Job Description
Role Overview:
In this critical role, the Product Manufacturing Engineer will bridge the gap between product design and manufacturing operations. Under the guidance of the Director of Operations Excellence, you will ensure that our manufacturing processes align with design specifications, maintain quality standards, and continuously improve. You will be instrumental in both new product development and ongoing engineering efforts, advocating for product excellence from conception through the entire product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interface with design engineers and manufacturing teams to ensure product and manufacturing alignment.
- Act as the subject-matter expert, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and design intent.
- Support teams across production, quality, supply chain, and service with engineering expertise.
- Manage Bills of Materials (BOMs) and maintain ERP system data for parts and raw materials.
- Drive process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
- Implement lean manufacturing principles to streamline assembly processes and reduce waste.
- Engage in high-mix, low-volume production support with adaptable engineering solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement projects focusing on safety and quality.
- Provide technical support as needed to internal and external stakeholders.
- Participate in new product development from ideation to production launch, ensuring timely product releases.
- Collaborate on product improvements, updates, and design for manufacturability and assembly.
- Work with CAD teams to review and manage engineering drawings and maintain revision control.
- Develop and update process documentation and work instructions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in manufacturing, mechanical, or electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant engineering role within a manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and 3D CAD software, especially SolidWorks.
- Willingness to travel for business purposes. Up to 50% of the time
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability principles.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to analyze technical information and make informed recommendations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Maintain a positive attitude and foster good relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- Safety toe shoes and glasses are mandatory in production areas.
- Regularly required to move around the office and production areas and use office equipment.
- Occasionally lift or move items up to 20 pounds.
