Job Description
Responsibilities:To lead and manage the alumina brick production line, ensuring safe operations, consistent product quality, optimal productivity, cost control, and compliance with Calderys' IMS, safety, and sustainability standards.Plan, execute, and monitor end-to-end production of basic refractory bricks (burnt and unburnt).Achieve production targets as per monthly and annual plans with optimum utilization of manpower and equipment.Monitor critical process parameters such as mixing, pressing pressure, tempering, firing curves, and kiln performance.Ensure adherence to approved formulations, SOPs, and control plans.Ensure compliance with product specifications related to AP, bulk density, CCS, PLC, HMOR, oxidation resistance and dimensional tolerances.Coordinate with QA/QC for inspections, root cause analysis of defects, and CAPADrive reduction in rejection, rework, and customer complaints.Enforce EHS standards, safety procedures, and statutory requirements on the shop floor.Ensure compliance with IMS (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and internal audits.Lead, train, and motivate production supervisors, engineers, and operators.Conduct skill gap analysis and on-the-job training for operators on alumina brick processes.Support manpower planning, shift management, and performance reviews.Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, R&D, SCM, and Planning teams for smooth operations.Prepare daily/weekly/monthly production reports, KPI dashboards, and MIS.Support audits, customer visits, and technical discussions when required. Experience, Skills & Competencies:Essential: B.E./B.Tech in Ceramic Engineering (Ceramic Diploma with strong experience may be considered)5-8 years of experience in refractory manufacturingMinimum 5 years in Basic brick productionHands-on experience with MgC and carbon-containing productsStrong knowledge of basic raw materials (fused/sintered MgO, graphite, resin, pitch)Understanding refractory testing methods and quality standardsExposure to SAP (PP/MM) and production reporting systems
