Job Description
Instructional Duties:Develop and deliver lectures on diverse topics such as comparative politics, political theory, and international affairs.Design curricula and write course syllabi.Create, administer, and grade examinations and assignments.Facilitate and moderate class discussions to encourage critical thinking.
Research and Scholarship:Conduct original research in specialized areas like electoral reform, political economy, or conflict resolution.Publish findings in peer-reviewed academic journals, books, or electronic media.Present research at national and international academic conferences.Apply for research grants to fund ongoing studies.
Student Support and Mentorship:Provide academic advising and career guidance to students.Supervise student research projects, internships, or dissertations.Mentor junior faculty and assistant professors.
Institutional Service:Serve on departmental or university committees to address policy and administrative issues.Participate in student recruitment and registration activities.Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives and curriculum updates.
Required SkillsAnalytical Thinking: Ability to identify patterns and trends in political data and policy.Communication: Strong oral and written skills for delivering lectures, writing publications, and collaborating with peers.Public Speaking: Confidence and clarity when addressing large audiences in classrooms or conferences.Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of statistical formulas and data analysis tools to compute data for studies.Organization: Ability to balance multiple tasks like teaching, grading, and long-term research projects.
