Role Description
The Project Management Specialist supports the Project Management Office (PMO) by designing, implementing, and maintaining standardized project management processes, tools, and reporting. This role focuses on governance, metrics, and operational support to ensure IT projects are delivered consistently, transparently, and in alignment with organizational standards. The position partners closely with project managers, project leaders, and IT leadership.
Key Responsibilities- PMO Processes & Standards
- Design, implement, evaluate, and audit project management processes and templates
- Ensure alignment with project management best practices and PMBOK guidelines
- Support continuous improvement of PMO methodologies and controls
- Metrics, Reporting & Performance Tracking
- Compile and analyze metrics related to project success, delivery performance, and resource productivity
- Track project costs, schedules, service levels, and performance indicators
- Provide accurate and timely data to support management decision-making
- Project Controls & Tools Administration
- Ensure project control systems are established and effectively maintained
- Administer and support project management software and tools
- Ensure project data is integrated, accurate, and accessible
- Support & Enablement for Project Teams
- Serve as a resource to project managers and project leaders on PMO processes and tools
- Educate and assist teams in adopting standards and implementing improvements
- Provide administrative and operational support to active projects
- Documentation & Knowledge Management
- Organize, maintain, and publish project-related documentation
- Ensure documentation standards are followed and artifacts are easy to locate
- Support consistency, auditability, and knowledge transfer across the PMO
- Stakeholder & Leadership Support
- Support approved projects as requested by program areas and IT leadership
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure project execution aligns with organizational priorities
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5 or more years of IT experience including project management, customer service, or team coordination
- 5 or more years of experience working under general direction for mid-level to senior-level management
- 3 or more years of leadership experience managing or supporting complex IT or business projects
- Strong knowledge of project management tools, methodologies, and best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience working within a formal PMO environment
- Experience supporting both IT and business-focused project initiatives
