:Baroda/Vadodara Residents preferred" Purchase Engineer (Electrical / Transformer Industry) Job Title: Purchase Engineer DepartmentProcurement / Supply Chain Location: Padra, Vadodara Reporting ToPurchase Manager / Supply Chain Head Job PurposeTo manage procurement of raw materials, bought-out components, and services required for manufacturing electrical equipment such as transformers, ensuring cost efficiency, quality compliance, and on-time availability. Key Responsibilities Procurement & SourcingSource and procure materials such as:CRGO/CRNGO steel, Copper conductors (wire/strip). Transformer oil, Insulation materials (press board, paper, epoxy), Radiators, bushings, conservators, hardware, Identify, evaluate, and develop new vendors for cost-effective sourcing, Float RFQs, analyze quotations, and negotiate pricing & commercial terms, Prepare and process Purchase Orders (POs)Vendor ManagementDevelop and maintain strategic vendor relationshipsConduct vendor evaluation and performance review (quality, delivery, cost)Ensure vendor compliance with company standards and certificationsCoordinate with vendors for timely delivery and issue resolutionCost Control & NegotiationDrive cost reduction initiatives (value engineering, alternate sourcing)Negotiate: Pricing, Payment terms, Delivery schedulesMonitor market trends for key commodities (copper, steel, oil)Planning & CoordinationCoordinate with: Production planning team for material requirementsDesign/engineering team for technical specificationsQuality team for inspection and approvalsEnsure timely availability of materials to avoid production delaysInventory & DocumentationMonitor inventory levels and avoid overstocking/stock-outsMaintain procurement records, contracts, and documentationEnsure ERP system updates (SAP/Oracle or similar)Quality & ComplianceEnsure all procured materials meet technical specificationsCoordinate inspection (incoming quality checks)Handle non-conformances and vendor rejectionsEnsure compliance with ISO, safety, and statutory normsLogistics CoordinationCoordinate with logistics for inbound shipment planningTrack deliveries and resolve delaysOptimize freight and transportation costsKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)Cost savings / procurement efficiencyOn-time delivery (OTD) of materialsVendor performance ratingInventory turnover ratioReduction in emergency purchasesQuality rejection rateRequired Qualifications EducationBachelor's Degree in: Electrical Engineering / Mechanical EngineeringOR Diploma with relevant experienceExperience5-8 years in procurement within:Transformer / electrical equipment manufacturingPower equipment / heavy engineering industryHands-on experience in purchasing technical componentsTechnical SkillsKnowledge of transformer components and materialsVendor sourcing & development skillsNegotiation and cost analysisERP systems (SAP preferred)Strong understanding of BOM and drawingsBehavioral / Soft SkillsStrong negotiation and commercial acumenAnalytical and problem-solving skillsCommunication & stakeholder managementAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesPreferred Candidate ProfileExperience in transformer or power equipment companies (e.g., ABB, Siemens, Voltamp, CG, etc.)Strong vendor base in electrical componentsExposure to plant-level procurementCompensationAs per industry standards (based on experience and skill set)Additional Notes (Optional)Willingness to travel for vendor visitsAbility to work in a manufacturing/plant environment
